I didn't read anything...I'm guessing you went for acting too? Did you go away for the weekend or just to the open call? I only went to the open call in my local area to check it out. But after I checked it out it screamed 'give me your money for nothing'. After hearing about the 'amazing opportunity to get noticed' I realized it was just an amazing opportunity for them to make alot of money off of young hopefuls wanting to 'make it'. You're a needle in a haystack at those conventions. The girls who really do get noticed by the big agencies, those 'success stories' they drill into your head at the open calls, are the same girls who would get noticed if they just walked into their agency on an open call- minus the $1,000 attendance fee.

I am listening to the good advice, and the advice that I agree with. Not people who are saying things that I'm doing are scams and fake .. I'm the one that went to the convention, I'm the one that got signed with an agency. But it wasn't a "REAL" agency anyways...so that doesn't matter. ha Someone needs a slap in the face-reality check!

I know my portfolio isn't anything special right now, a lot of you have already gone over it with me. I'm working on it! It seems like there are a lot more job openings being offered to me in that line of work though..I don't know what to do. I don't have a problem posing in lingerie or in swimsuits..but everyone I say that to is like " Well then why can't you just step up one level to nude? " Because I don't want to. I'm comfortable with my body. I just don't want to be portrayed like that. I've gotten offers for different magazines..Ones that I would have to be practically completely nude in, obviously. UGH. I haven't read anything past the O.P. so hear goes.. Because your port isn't very strong to begin with could be the reason. There is one guy I would recommend in Pittsburg and you probably already know who he is... You probably don't want to spend money on a photo shoot and in your area no one wants to sit in the park and shoot casual and catalog stuff with a not so strong model. Many models are not strong negotiators, because if you're not willing to pay, you're going to have to negotiate some kind of deal on the photo shoot so that every leaves happy. Does sex sell? Yes.. Sexy doesn't mean half naked, or half dressed, sexy is an attitude, sexy is the way you walk, the way you make an expression, the way your eyes pierce whatever they are looking at. Maybe a lot of photographers don't think you're sexy enough with all your clothes on, so they want to take some of them off.. Who knows.. Like someone else said, you can always say no...

Kali, I think that was meant as a compliment. You ARE gorgeous after all. HEY, THANKS! I keed, I keed. As for the OP, DON'T do nudes if you don't want to do nudes. DON'T go to New York if you don't have what it takes to make it. DO listen to those that have more experience than you. Paying money to go to a modeling convention, while not necessarily a scam, is kind of a waste of money. You can do the exact same thing by taking your portfolio directly to those agencies yourself. You don't need ProScout's "help". As for your agents being real, there's only one question that will answer that. Are they getting you work? If not, your agent sucks.

I learned how to walk correctly on the runway, it was a runway workshop, that's what they show you how to do. And the acting workshop was to make me more comfortable with the people who were going to be looking at me and watching every move I make. He makes you do things infront of a crowd of people to make you comfortable feeling like an ass. And it helped. My mama dropped 600 bucks on one of these conventions for me when I was 12. I remember really having a good time during these parts of it. I got a call back from some kids agency, but they said no when they found out I was 12 and would be hitting puberty soon. They thought I was 8 when I was on the runway. I still am 8, right?

I drank a martini the other night and was really comfortable on top of the bar dancing. And it only cost the guy next to me $6.75. ha. just kidding.

Kali, the easiest way to prove your point is to take down the non-pro pics that make up your profile and replace them with the ones done by the well-known professional photographer you worked with from your agency. Kali Hyde wrote:
What does that mean..I didn't shoot with them, I shot with Jeff. What does that have to do with anything..taking one sentance out of what I said to someone that wasn't you. Like, honestly what was the point of even doing that. I'm sure there are "well known" photographers on here, okay, so what?

And watching the chicks who got paid the big bucks to do it. You know when the last time was I paid someone to teach me how to do something? Cheerleading camp in high school. Maybe Kali needs to get some friends together and have a car wash to raise the money for her next workshop.

James == p0wn3d In my mild defense, I know a Didier Snyder who is a fashion stylist in NYC... I also know a Didier Gault who is a fashion photographer in NYC... amongst a couple of other Didiers who all hate when you misspell their name.
