What does that mean..I didn't shoot with them, I shot with Jeff. What does that have to do with anything..taking one sentance out of what I said to someone that wasn't you. Like, honestly what was the point of even doing that. I'm sure there are "well known" photographers on here, okay, so what?

So it's not that impressive that this guy got you a shoot with a "well known" photographer. I got myself a shoot with Tito Trelles and I'm a 19 year old music student who's been doing this for only a year...who here's heard of Tito? Who's heard of this Jeff guy? I have a feeling more raised their hands for the former than the latter. But I'm sure that the fact that this guy can find you one "well known" photographer makes him legit. Hell...I should start an "agency". I got one model one shoot with one "well known" photographer, and apparently that's all it takes to make you legit.

Kaitlin!  You are better than this.  It's often said:  "Never mud wrestle with a pig.  You get covered with mud, and the pig enjoys it."

On another forum, and to another model, Mr. Jackson opined:

James Jackson wrote:

He was wrong.  At best, that model deserves an Honorable Mention for Most Credulous.  The OP in this case is as bad as I have ever seen.  She doesn't understand the Halo Effect (just because some good agencies are in a room doesn't mean that all "agencies" in the room are good).  She doesn't understand that any commercial agency a thousand miles from you that makes you pay for things is a scam.  She doesn't have the skill to see that her "well known photographer" takes pictures of models and actors that are, at best, undistinguished.  She doesn't understand that the agency in Austin is operating illegally, without a license, and that while they were in New Orleans they were famous for making their money by giving classes and selling pictures.  She doesn't understand that agencies don't have to directly receive money from a model to make money from picture sales.  She doesn't understand that when a company like Quickbooks, which is widely documented as a scam, sells you pictures and leaves, it's because they make their money by selling pictures and leaving.  She doesn't understand that people who do not work for magazines can claim to "submit" to them - and it's meaningless.

And she is impervious to anyone who tells her what she doesn't want to hear.  No manner of argument will make any difference to her.

To the OP:  I am fully aware that you will not understand or believe a word I say.  For your information, I have been in the model industry for a very, very long time.  I have been to well over two dozen model searches, including several Proscout events.  I understand very well how they work. I have owned and operated a real model agency that made its money by getting work for models.  I have seen scams like this over and over and over again, and I have seen that they work because people want to believe so badly that they will insist on ignoring anything counter to that belief.

Time to stick a fork in it.

I gotta say that my shot of Kaitlin gets me tons of favorable comments everyplace I've ever posted it. And it's probably not JUST because she's topless and showing the camera those huge .. eyes of hers.

Kali, as a photog I can tell you it has nothing to do with your face. It's your number: you're 18. Thanks to Barely Legal, nude 18yos are all the rage and you're worth 2-3 times now, to your self and the photogs, what you'll be worth when you're 19 - and 10 times worth what you'll be worth when you're 20. This is the current state of adult commerce. The good news is that all these offers will go away when you're 20. Sure as shootin'. My advice is take one single offer from the most talented photog that offers and don't sign a release at the time. Make that part of the deal. Then you have the shoot in the bank and you can tear it up later, or cash it in.
I've talked to a lot of 20 yos who say, "Ok, I'm ready" - and they're saying it to an empty room. You still get offers, of course - but not like now when it's a feeding frenzy.  BD

I re-reply, regretting how that sounded. I've seen your photos and you have a lovely face. What I meant was that you're not getting the offers because you have the face of a porn star. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Now why can't I be that tactful on the first pass? I dunno, I guess that's why I shoot for a living and don't write  smile  BD

*Blush* Thank you! This is exactly why I get good jobs...I'm not by any means the most attractive person out there...but I work pretty damn hard, I love constructive criticism, and I adore getting advice from people who know better. Sometimes, it ain't about being pretty...apparently when you're loaded enough to drop $600 on a convention and $200 on comp cards all at once, people don't tell you "no" enough.

Number 1.) You live in Pittsburg. Not what I would call a fashion mecca by any stretch of the imagination. Number 2.) Have you ever picked up a copy of Italian Vogue?

Here, this might help: www.newmodels.com

Again, you can work on it all day long. But you don't live in an area where you would do any 'fashion' modelling unless it was for some fellow MM photogs. TFP Yay!

Kali Hyde wrote:

There would be a lot more 'job' openings in 'that' area if you were a one eyed, three footed, blue skinned, Amazonian monk. Anybody can get naked and please some fruitcake with a computer, a credit card and the urge to feel good.

Kali Hyde wrote:

Don't be surprised if this actually comes up on a real fashion shoot. (See the Italian Vogue thing above...)

Kali Hyde wrote:
Because I don't want to. I'm comfortable with my body. I just don't want to be portrayed like that. I've gotten offers for different magazines..Ones that I would have to be practically completely nude in, obviously.
