Isn't that calling the Kettle black... !! Exactly- which is why calling out in the forums is not allowed, and difficult. It gets tricky.

Most models lie about this bullsh!t, then run to boards and hope to get sympathy...... Or they even lie about their "so called" bad experiences with photographers.. Right Daniela?

That's what the CAM feature is for. Contact a mod and get the fake photographer or model deleted. I'm still trying to figure out what a fake photographer is. Is that like air photography? Similar to air guitar but with a pretend camera? That should be very easy to spot right off the bat.

It's hard to tell if a model is lying or not- same for stylists and photographers- that's why outing isn't allowed.

That's how I believe word should get around. Not on a site like this. Seems like you took the higher road. I do the same with models. I don't whine about no-shows or awful models on the forums, but you should hear all the gossip slinging around the studio when a model is getting her m/u done, that's when all the juicy dirt comes out, lol.

Michael, I have seen my share of "fake" photographer profiles on ModelMayhem, OMP MySpace, Yahoo, etc. ... there are hundreds of thousands of them! There are also just as many "fake" model profiles too! I do my duty to report profiles that are obviously FAKE to the afministration of whichever website the profiles are on. I even made a group called the "Fake Busters" .... but sadly, I found that even if I were to work 24/7 8 days a week on reporting FAKES, the job would never get done. One of my model friends (Jessica Marie Jones) had well over a dozen FAKES using her photos on MySpace alone! There are things that you can do to discourage FAKES ... watermarking your images for one! Don't post higher resolution images online. Using websites that verify the members also helps! FAKES are a serious problem!

Just because a model is "new" dosen't mean they automatically don't know what they're doing or how to conduct themselves. Statements like yours give tacit approval to clueless, unaccountable behavior on the part of models, making things easier for the [few] actual predators out there while making things much more complicated for legitimate photographers everywhere. Statements like this are just another part of the problem.

Hi Kimberly, That's pretty good advise, but I'd like to change it around and present you with a revised; (1) Ask for references. Be cautious. This is the Internet and profiles can be easy to fake. This is also like job hunting and it's perfectly fine to ask for references. (2) Be patient. Good things take time. There is no such thing as over night success. It takes hard work and planning to achieve success, and modeling is no exception. (3) Be curious. Ask questions There are no stupid questions! So as away! Read the forums and study other websites. Contact other people, because this is how you get your real world education. (4) Communicate! Absolutely make sure you have exchanged information as to when, where, and phone numbers with whom you are working with. Meet in advance if possible. Communication eases fears. Get to know the photographer enough to be comfortable. (5) Communicate again! If you are a model who feels more comfortable with an escort, ask if it's alright to have an escort. Ask questions about what the photographer expects of you. Never bring an escort without first asking the photographer if it is alright! (6) Follow your intuition about things. If you are told you can't have an escort, but you want to bring one, then just move on to the next photographer. ALSO communicate with your "escort" about his or her job as an escort! If you feel comfortable enough to work with the photographer without an escort, then do so! Escorting is a responsibility, therefore it's not being a spectator! (7) Not all photographers who don't allow escorts are bad and not all photographers who allow escorts are good. Develop your intuition. Communicate, ask questions, and you'll learn!
