Kimberly R Walker wrote: it's not fair........there are GWC's and photographers that just want to meet with you take your pic make you do pics that you dont' want to then keep the images for themselves and never hold up their end of the bargin.....this is why most models want escorts it makes it really bad for the good photographers who are out there..... why can't they be warned in forums as you can probably tell this has happened to me Because it would turn into a mud fight. When you post something here, there isn't much of an opportunity to verify what you're saying. If they allow you to say "the truth" about the photographer, the mods would have to allow the photographer to respond, and that would get really ugly really fast. People have talking about this here for a while. If you want to create a blacklist, you'll have to do it on another site that would be members-only for a small group of professionals who would try to be impartial. They keep a tab on the number of complaints about a particular artist, and then you would have to ask how many complaints they have gotten. Sort of a blind box to be safe legally from libel suits.

I dont' think there's nothing anyone can do but like others said just get references.. the hard thing is when you're just starting out no one wants to photograph you you don't know what to do so the first time someone contacts you you're ready to go "the rookies" have some learnign to do..... I know I do

Frankly, I was assalted by a photographer- with extremely strong references. EXTREMELY. I have not once called him out. But the list of models he works with has gotten significantly shorter. and ps- I still don't bring an escort.

By the way, I don't mind if you bring Mike Tyson to the shoot as long as he can hold a reflector. It's hard enough to setup everything outdoors by yourself with model just standing and doing nothing to help.

Practice the word NO. Make communication clear before you shoot. Do your homework. Don't call someone out on the forums or make a big deal of it. You'll only look foolish. I, personally, do not work with anyone that publicly calls someone out in a rude fashion...they only look bitter...not something I want to ever work with. Look at someone's port- you should be able to tell if they flake or whatnot. Or the model can just lie and say they had a bad experience even if she's only trying to retaliate because the photographer is willing to tell everyone who is willing to listen, about the sorry excuse she gave for not showing up to a shoot.. Isn't that calling the Kettle black... !!

I have an interesting case where I photographed 3 models at the same time. In my case it's easy to get 3 different opinions of me. One model can easily say "his work is good and he got the images to me fast", the other can say "I only received a few of the images", and the third can say "he never gave me any of my images"... and none of 'em would be wrong! Y'see I went waaaaay out of my way to get images color corrected, proofs printed (about 1400 photos total), and CD/DVDs burned and PROPERLY labeled. I made it a special point to get the photos done in a reasonable amount of time, and when my computer crashed I went out and spent a grand on another computer mainly so I could complete the project quickly. One of the models received the contents and sent me a message stating how much she appreciated the photos, and gave me a slew of really nice compliments about my abilities, quality, and energy that I put into my work. (she isn't a member of MM). Another of the models was in no hurry to receive the CD / DVD / proofs because she already received most of the photos online or via different methods, and is content in using what she already has. From her I received a 'thank you', and that's about it. The third model knows that her set of images are ready... she replied to an e-mail that I sent notifying her of that... but she never told me how to get them to her. I'll get them to her, I have no use for the photos... but the point is that I already invested alot of time and effort to get the photos to her in a reasonable amount of time. If she's not interested in getting the photos quickly, I'm definately not going to put the delivery of photos on my list of priorities. So, I'm sure that you can see that there definately is more than one side to a story, and while it's very important to let everyone know about people that will 'do wrong', there's also a fine line between accurate portrayals and one sided stories.

Well, I spoke to one of the models (Very very well known on this site, OMP, and around the industry in NYC), and told her what happened...that seems to have help the problem. That's how I believe word should get around. Not on a site like this. However, you're right. This stuff shouldn't go unchecked... And I love how you called me kind and gentle...that's like, the first time ever...and will probably be the last lol.
