Ask the photographer for references and contact those references. Or don't ask but instead look at their photos, see who they have worked with, contact those people and ask questions.

The principles that apply to any relationship between a model and a photographer also apply to any relationship between any two or more human beings. You don't have to walk around jaded and paranoid to develop a good sense of self-defense. Always assume the people around you have bad intentions until you've established otherwise. As you get older you will (hopefully) develop a better sense of spot judging the people you meet so you don't have to waste as much time determining what their intentions are. But if you're doing anything that is important to you, always protect yourself legally and financially before you enter into a new relationship. thank you I am learnign this now

The next tme you want to 'call out' a photographer or model on the forums remember that it's kind of like mud wrestling with a pig, You get muddy and the 'pig' has fun at your expense. Edit: that means that when 'calling out' someone it's quite likely that the one doing the 'calling out' will look foolish while the other person just gets to enjoy the 'publicity'.

To the OP: MM's rules are a two way street. Photographers cannot "out" flakey or bad models either. A fellow photographer & I booked 7 models for a photoshoot in August. one showed.... We repeated the shoot in October - same scenario, but two showed. There are literally hundreds of such stories (it's a cliche, actually) by photographers on MM, but we cannot name names in the forums.

Question for the OP... Have you ever been misunderstood? Has anyone ever misinterpreted something you said? Have you ever been late to a shoot, missed a shoot or had to cancel a shoot? How would you take it if you were flamed in a thread for any of these? Would that be fair? After all, it is their interpretation of what happened. Sometimes when you get what you wish for, it doesn't always turn out the way you wanted.
