Isn't there a better way to say photographer in fewer letters than photog? I just saw two thread titles with that...that WORD in them, and it really annoyed me. This is not a judgement about the people who wrote those titles, but rather a complaint about the general use of that word. Anybody else hate it?

I also hate the use of the word "photog" it makes the person using it sound as if they're trying to be "hip".

Yes...'tog' is WELL hated by me, only slightly more than 'photogs'...who came up with that one, anyway?

If you don't want to burn that extra .0001 calorie by saying 'photographer', I likely don't want to burn the several hundred it would take to shoot you.

How about "Lord of the Lens" instead?

I actually meant in fewer letters than photographer. It doesn't even have to be shorter than photog, just different. I prefer photographer, but I just get the feeling people are too lazy or slow typers to type out the entire word. All together now: photographer. Yes, it is a long word, but so is architect, and people don't run around calling them arche's....or maybe they do, but I don't think it has caught on yet.

I don't hate it, per se, I hate the assumptions that go along with it.  It's always "But... but... photographer has so many letters!  P'leez don't make me spell it all the way out!  I need those extra keystrokes for emoticons and lols and lmaos and shit like that.  Photographer is just too big!  U r a meenie photog and ppl like u make me sad!!"

Sheez.  Just type out the rest of the damn letters.  I suppose if you're plucking away with your index fingers and staring at the keyboard as you type, those six letters might extend your posting time.  But you'll get zero sympathy from me.

But what do I know?  I'm just a dinosaur who -on top of still using film- does not even abbreviate the term Make-up Artist.  It was all I could do to keep from laughing in the face of a model who actually said to me "I prefer to work with em-yoo-aze..."

Hate both photog and tog.  Shooter doesn't bother me.  Perhaps because it's a complete word?

Photog reminds me of a cat caughing up a hairball or something ....but in all fairness in my mind it sounds more like "photoghhh...."  Or, maybe someone speaking german spitting out a profanity.   haha!
Yea, I find it annoying too. If you wanna call me something shorter call me a PG (PhotoGrapher)or something i dunno.

No big deal. I don't care what someone wants to call me .. even GWC  .... I am a guy with a camera  ... who cares  ... if I manage to get some decent pics that please all those that need to be pleased, i'm fine with whatever label someone chooses to use.

photog=6 letters
photog-rapher=12 letters

If you come up with a better alternative I might use it. But photog doesn't bother me, and I use it a lot because I'm lazy.

And exactly how many letters  -including spaces-  did you use typing out that post?  Way to many to convince me that you're lazy, that's for sure.

Did the word alternative make the cut because it's only 11 letters, one shy of the 12 in photographer?  Because technically it's 5 longer that photog and thus should be shortened to altern which sounds a bit awkward at first though I'd think the same of photog which seems widely accepted but I digress...

Just kidding you...

Yep. Hate photog and tog the same way I hate the realtor that tells me a $450,00 one bedroom condominium is a good deal for an entry level prchase.

I'd rather be called "ASSCLOWN"

(Don't get any funny ideas, now.)

I don't mind photog, it's like photo instead of photograph. There's been a magazine called "Photo" for decades.

But for myself I do try to spell everything out. It may not be not fun, but it's educational.

The abbreviations that drive me nuts are "sup, peeps?", "port", "ho" and "yo,yo,yo." To me that's total "iggernance".
