on my second shoot the phtographer demanded a "favor" in exchange for my pictures. needless to say, i quickly left...and never saw most of my images.

Except for leaving, what else did you do about it?

Why are models afraid to report this kind of behaviour to authorities (or even the photographers wife smile)

A serious photographer would not turn away a good model just because she filed a sexual harrasment suit against some pervert!!

Do you really think reporting these guys will affect your reputation so much as to screw up your carrer?

Just curious?

It happened to me several times. A while ago my friend arranged an exchange of sessions with a massage artist that needed pictures for her web site. I thought "exchange of sessions" meant I shoot the lingerie pictures she needed and then she poses for some pictures for me. Well, it turned out that we had a miscommunication and when I declined to receive the payment she turned nasty and started suggesting that there was something wrong with me. That was probably the case with your "model".

Actually there is a certain class of women who pay their way in life with sex.  I have had offers to exchange sex for my legal services.  I tell them all that I have to pay my secretary and feed my family, and while the offer is tempting and I know she is worth it, that I don't think my secretary would be amused if I told her that I was not able to pay her this week with money but I could tell her all about how much fun I had screwing that last client.

maybr she would have doe the secretary and your wife and everyone else too LOL

I had a "photographer" tell me that he would pay my travel expenses to get to his location and "if you do a good enough job when you're here, I'll pay extra for the shoot".  EEEEeeeewwwww!  I ended that convo right away.

I did offer to do the dishes/clean the kitchen for one of my photographer friends to he could have extra time to edit my images.  (I got 'em faster that way!)  smile  Really though, if a photographer EVER insisted on "favors" from me during a shoot, I'd probably kick him in the nuts.

I hope I'll never be offered to do that kind of service in exchange of photographies. I'd be mortified.

Anyway, everyone I've worked with has been very kind and professionnal to me, so I'll up I'll keep on being lucky. Or maybe there's simply no perverts and wackos in Montreal! (I wish!)

What self-respecting model and women would degrade herself and do something like that! I cant believe that she even parted her lips and asked you that!
And the sad thing about it, is you know that she has done "favors" for other photographers just to get images!

I have heard of investing in your future....but come on now, I dont think thats what they meant! sad

Pretty much exactly what happened in my case. it's like, how the hell can you get offended if I'm contacting you only to shoot? isn't that the point of MM?

look out: the model who is doing this will soon write a book called Model Vixen or Photography Vixen telling all the elicit and scandulous stories about how she "superheaded" not onlt her photogs but their long zoom lenses as well...

Let's look at this from another angle. While it may not be PC or it may be considered sad, this model looks at sex as a barterable commodity. Maybe she doesn't have money to pay for a photographer. Maybe she grew up in a sexually open household and has no moral baggage accompanying her. Or maybe she was abused as a child and is desensitized to this. We don't know what her thinking is. I don't think that just because she may have "paid" other photographers in this manner that it's just now that she realizes the commodity she has to trade with.

Although you have a point, I wasn't asking her to pay or anything. I needed a model to work with on my project and I would have been more then happy to hlp her with hers. There was no reason to even offer "favors" in the first place

So much **clucking** of disapproval. I find it curious that so many people are so eager to express their disapproval.

Moral indignation of this sin.

If that were the case, it wouldn't be a problem as far as working with them. But even escorts wouldn't do that. Professional sex workers are definitely people too, but she isn't an escort or even a stripper!

I'msure you don't sleep with the escorts in exchange for photographs, or do you?

Of course I was taken by surpise...

Wow!  A woman offering sex in exchange for something she wants?  You've got to be kidding!  I've never heard of that happening before!  Muahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Although, I do admit it's kinda strange for a women to offer that when there are photographers lied up at the door to give her pictures for free....  Was she blond? (j/k!)

Caroline

while the possibility is there that she could possibly be a victim, let's not mislead our own minds here. She may have been looking for a 'trick' to get established with to get from point A to point B. I'm not taking the I feel sorry for her road because there may be more to this situation than the lady addressed. Some female play the same games that many photographers play. Trying to F@ck their way to the top. Sad but true. This is common with females like photographers..

I don't have time for this type. I set it straight.

A couple years ago I was shooting a modeling portfolio for a girl who did escort work on the side very selectively...she wanted both vanilla model/actress photos and racier escort-appropriate images.  The shoot was running a little long and I cautioned her that she'd either be paying me more or ending things after the look we were currently shooting, so she offered to make up the difference in service trade.  I told her that the first two options were really her only options, and she was fine with that...she paid me more and we worked for another couple hours.

Then, during the strike, it came out that she just figured that meant I was gay...because why else would I turn down sex for photos?

But she is a young women growing up in sexually liberated times.

I am sure it varies depending on where on this planet you are, but teenage girls in Canada start giving blow jobs at an age that makes a lot of people uncomfortable. They do it to be popular, and like the former President, they don't consider BJ's sex.

I can understand a young model, not having the benefit of the moral education she would receive here on MM, would have a very different view of what is normal and acceptable.

*I* would certainly advise her in the ways that people think, and suggest that if she wished to do well as model, she is well advised to align her view of what is normal and acceptable, with that of people in this industry.

But I would not cluck about her, think that she has had a bad childhood, or is a bad person.

I would simply offer my thoughts about inter-personal relations in the same way I would about clothes to add to her wardrobe.

SE Photo wrote:

Hmmm...  Certainly not for a new client.

But I have developed some pretty good friendships with a few of them. And I don't charge them to photograph them.

So, make the call. Seems that is what everyone in this thread wants to do.

My man, she was looking for a trick. When you rejected the offer, she was caught off guard. Some woman can't accept rejection. She gets you comfortable, then she suddenly starts bringing in things that you weren't prepared for. You did the right thing..You have to put yourself in her shoes..I see a photographer who has something going for himself, I offer him sexual faours, once he's comfortable, I'll start pulling back, turning the game around..

LOL....I had this happen to me recently...I was looking for a couple of models and 2 girls had responded..they were friends and asked if I would rather have them "favor" me with their "endowments" I kinda laughed and stated what I was offering and threw in that I was also female..their response was "Thats even better" I just laughed and  thanked them for the offer and politely declined. I have to admit that was pretty funny;)
