I remember when I was in front of the camera...a long, long time ago, when models revered the photographers and felt lucky to be shot by them. As models, we didn't act so self-important and as if we were doing the photographers a favor - we actually wanted the photographers to grace us with their presence instead of acting as if we were gracing them with ours.

What happened to this, I don't know. I believe it is a generational thing. To quote
'The Incredibles' - "When everyone is special, no one is special anymore."

I also remember how much easier modeling was than photography.

This sort of thing has happened to me too - complainers, self-important wanna-be Paris Hiltons, everyone thinking they are already a star when they haven't even hit the small time. Last minute cancellations on TFCD with no apology, photographer shopping, even friends at the beginning asking to see my work before I shot them, although they knew I was new and didn't have anything, which was the point of my asking them in the first place.

I long for the old days. Everything is flipflopped now.

It also surprises me how some models approach and act towards photographers. I may be new to this myself, but photographers do so much more than just snap a few shots and call it a day. I can't imagine what you guys go through to get that perfect shot and be satisfied with it. It's good to go into this with a modest and humble attitude. Nobody's perfect, I can't stand reading other model's profiles and seeing that they obviously think they are. >.

Hey don't speak for everyone in this generation! I feel very grateful to photographers that offer to shoot with me! smile I know that if I'm asked it must mean they see something special & I don't take that for granted, I have a lot of respect for photographers because it is their job to capture art & the chance to be part of that is awesome! I think self-important would def not be a word to describe me cause I know that there are LOTS of models out there & def those that are better than me whom I can learn from & as far as complaining goes if I gotta jump into some water in the middle of a park or something to get the shot the photographer wants, I'll do it...just thought I'd let that out...

Obviously, yes, this girl is a twit.

At the same time, I don't see her attitude as being THAT much different from the many, many photographers who come waltzing into this site with plain, average, snapshot-y, poorly-lit, cheezy, or just plain bad photos and not only expect models to pay them for this work, but then get snitty when the models say no.

Just sayin'.

I'm so glad u said that. I see photographers that do that all the time. Yet people only wanna bitch about it when its a model acting pissy. Why?

So curiosity pushed me to look at her MM account. She has 3-self camera phone pictures, 2-HS Grad pictures and a link indicating more professional photographs HERE going to a MySpace page packed with GIF’s and ear splitting music.

No matter how bad the model is, there's always an equally crappy photographer to match. The problem is that they are both looking to test up or get paid so it just ends up being a standoff. That's why model and photographers like that never update their ports. They are chasing after the impossible dream. Well at least they can brag to their friends.

The bottom feeders always make ridiculous demands.

I am always amused when the cell phone pic crowd starts demanding references and publications and rates.
One told me she would not work with me because my 50mm canon lens looked small..

You gotta love stuff like that!  The amazing thing is that "someone (or something)" actually put some thought into that creation... that is what amazes me.  A lot to be said for time well spent.  Just think, you could have gone to the dentist and had a tooth pulled with equal satisfaction!  Instead, you had the joy of experiencing someone's idiotic idea of self worth... No harm no foul... fo' getta' bout' it!  Enjoy!

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think you are the pot calling the kettle black. Now, I went to your site to review your prices, and I almost choked on my food. I think you need more practice before you start charging $250 for your awesome headshots. There is definately a quality problem there.

That is a shame! She gives us newcomers a bad name! Well, just goes to show you how un-professional a lot of people's definition of "professional" is! haha

Why would you think it gets better when a "professional" modeling site is just like another myspace. Except I have had better luck and met more talent on myspace.

Amen, brothah! LOL. An INSATIABLE sense of entitlement seems to be the rule, NOT the exception. It was not like this even just several years ago. Of course I have not been on the net for 5 years but I HAD noticed this trend in real life. It is just worse on the internet. In a recent topic, I remarked how much more can we cater to you? Is there ever enough? NO.

You can scout someone in real life and they actually believe you should pay them...to promote them to an agency. Go figure. lol. Needy, needy, it's all about me people everywhere. Mustn't have gotten some important emotional things from Mummy and Daddy. "Show me how much you love me and how much you can do for me!" "Chase me and chase me and I'll be POPULAR, I'll feel loved and be empty inside just the same!"

WTF! big_smile

My response: What have you done for me late-leeeeeeeeee???????? wink

It screws it up for the legit ones, more's the pity. How can anyone book anything with them with all the fishing expeditions in the way? Well, they miss one single "I'll call you tomorrow" and then they don't...that's it. Next!
