The problem is that  "internet" models who are 5'5' with nice  ti†'s
and  a$$ rely to much on the
concept that they should charge money to guys who think they are the next avedon.
Or if they are young, 5'11"1/2"
and stunning  they decide to work for big bucks only + hotel and meal....
Not that this is a bad thing especially if you over 35.
BUT
the big picture is that if you want to be a professional fashion/commercial
model go to  a reputable agency an let the agency devolop you.
Sticking around the forms may make you money for a while when your young.
Then you hit 25 and your chances of making it are next to nothing when
you could have been pro.
just my opinion.

Even though this thread has been posted many times it never seems to get better. The funny part to me is how some are saying this site is becoming more like Myspace. I only say this because I recently posted a casting for models in California for a magazine I work with. The pay is 100 and it is a two page spread with the models name and any website listed so people can contact her or view her site if it is paid or whatever. Unfortunately this seems to be to small for many of the "pro" models on this site so I received like 7 messages and got kind of bitter. I mean I am not sure what many models on this site expect but it really has me wondering. Anyway, I mentioned Myspace because if I am just going to post on Myspace or any other site for these types of jobs because I will get 3 times the amount of responses in 1 day and many of the girls will be good looking. I have been trying to post here to help out models who are trying hard in this tough industry but it is so frustrating, especially seeing models who would rather shoot tfp with some donkey than take a little money and get in a magazine. Oh well, like someone mentioned, time to move on big_smile

Actually you either need a portfolio or big money school to get in to get developed.

he DIDNT hit on me. he didnt say anything. that wasnt even the point of my post. maybe you got a little confused. i was saying that this guy who isnt even interested in modeling made a profile on mm just talking about his interests. aka this website is turning into myspace.

i never was much of a fan of playboy myself,  so go ahead use it as you see fit,

but i prefer something harder to read, and softer to wipe with.

I definitely agree with what you've said. "Snap shots and Paid assignments" certainly don't go together.

I agree too. To be frank, some of the people on here are being too harsh on the photographer. He is stating some of the same things that the attackers discuss on these forums frequent. The man didn't generalize nor attacked any individual models or photographers by name.

Tyler addressed Myspace enviornment because of the similar architecture of the website and individuality of the members.

Too me using Myspace is nothing but an excuse for some of the actiivity that goes on, on this website. Free or not, there are also professional photographers on here that are well known in the industry that scout for models. Imo, with that kind of talent, including actors and actresses that are here too, there are some that need to quit with the quick snap shots and want to get paid.

Unlike the o.p. I don't complain about it. But he is entitled to express what he sees. Just like the regulars do all of the time on here, even when some of them make invalid points. And what he is addressing he isn't over exagerrating.

I dunno, I've done it both ways.

If a client hired me to take photos for them, I'd feel an obligation to make sure the model they are paying for can deliver the look they want and I'd be more inclined to go to a model who has experience. Webcam pics and cell phone photos do not tell me how Model X will perform during an actual shoot with a team standing by, lighting pointed at her, spectators watching (if it's a shoot out in public) and the possibility of nervousness iif it's her first shoot.

On the other hand, I've worked with people who have never modeled for my own personal prjects and paid them the same rate I would have given a model with some experience under her belt.
