I'll probably regret this post along the way, but here goes anyway! smile

Why is it that the female nipple is judged different than the male nipple?  Oh, I know it is at the 'point' of the lovely female breast, but it is perfectly acceptable to show 90% of the breast in most model photos and retain a general rating on model sites.   Show the female nipple and your photo is automatically judged as 18+.  Somehow this view of judging the female nipple as a "sin" or "adult" strikes me very wrong.

I've read and heard the usual rhetoric why it's an issue but seriously, is the female nipple obscene and the male nipple cool?   How is one allowed in public and the other not?  Why are male models judged different than female models, and female models consider it to be bad too?  For male models, it's considered a pose.  For female models, it's considered "nude"!   Is it a sin ladies?

Who wants to jump on this one?

America's puritanical heritage pops up again.  Merged with the usual mix of politics, fear, greed, wvil, and honest concerns for real problems.   Annoying as all get out.

It's because I have a nipple fetish, and I was made in the image of God.

Actually, my nipples do a lot for me, at least when a woman is playing with them.

It's not really a direct answer, but I think it illuminates the question a bit:

What percentage of women will pay money or stand in line to see a guy's nipple?

What percentage of men will pay money or stand in line to see a woman's nipple?

Interesting, huh.

I shoot whatever I like.

I don't give a Flying Fu*k if someone other than the model thinks I should not enjoy making art of one of the finest body parts nature has given us to enjoy in so many ways.

Come to Canada where female nipples have been decriminalized (ie. woman can go topless like men, remembering that 80% of the time it is too cold to go topless anyway.)

Interesting, huh.

So it's a sexist thing stemming from the fact that men have historically made more money then women so therefore have more disposable income... ahhh, I get it now

It's obviously discrimination.  What we need is for somebody to get on a bus with her nipples out and refuse to put 'em away.

It worked for Rosa Parks, why can't it work for the nipple?

Didn't Larry Flynt take this one step further when he asked a judge if the court considered one person's vagina and the right to display it, to be any less beautiful than another person's face and the right to display that?  Say what you want about Larry Flynt, but he's definately a 1st Ammendment Patriot.

Nope. Where as you might see nipples in an ad in Europe, you sure won't see them in Asia, Africa or most of South America (at least I've never seen them in ads while in SA).

Right now, the Chinese press is full of attacks on Gong Li and the makers of "The Curse of the Golden Flower" because it supposidly panders to "depraved American taste"......the tops of her boobs are exposed.

right there. you just proved that you are talking about industrialized countries. how many cultures don't have "advertisements"? think of all the native tribes across the world that don't give a crap about showing nipple.

What seems to be lost in this discussion is that I think it's fair to say that there are a whole lotta people we don't really want to see shirtless in public. I'm just saying...

I lived in the middle of a rice field in Bali, Indonesia for 2 years. Trust me, tribal societies are a hell of a lot more conservative than Kansas.

No it is teh tit.  Male nipples and female nipples can look very similar.  Personally i'd like to visit a world where the tit is free to wander around in the sun.  Being social and talking to people on the street.

I wouldn't want to live there because i think tits might loose some of thier magical qualities if they were allowed to roam free.

how does that have anything to do with this?

you could live in a country for a long time and know nothing about it

I could come back with "oh yea do you have a bachelor's degree in cultural anthropology?", but I didn't did I? Because I'm 10 credits short of having one. It's irrelevant.

Let's turn this into a debate about what is or is not an industrialized country, what "cultures" don't have advertisements and discussing "all the native tribes across the world". And how that all relates to bare nipples. Yeah, that would be some fun readin'. And I'm sure the scholars on MM are up for it! Er, wait, Berkeley probably already did this.
