Brittni C, ( MM # 199791 ), flew out of Miami to get home, after meeting with agencies in South Beach.  Her connecting flight was in Denver.  Denver got 4 feet of snow already.  Without warning - they shut down the airport and cancelled all flights.  The airport and city have been shut down.

People from a Denver agency tried to get to her - but couldn't get out of the garage.

The very soonest she might get back to Utah... is Saturday.  We finally found a hotel in Downtown Denver ( extremely difficult after airport shuts down ) but all she left South Beach with was $10.00.  It took a bus 6 hours to get from the airport to downtown.  We got her in the room... but now I'm afraid that they'll kick her out once our cash runs out.

She's 18 years old.  She has no credit or family to lean on.

I'm asking MM community members for help.  I'm simply asking that anyone who can - just contact the HOTEL and put whatever you can on your card.  $5, $20, $50, whatever.  Once the hotel is covered - they'll decline further payment.

Those who want to help - call the Ramada Downtown.  303-831-7700.  She's in room 104.  She's a sweet kid and a fantastic model... and she's scared.  Let's help one of our own.

Thanks people.

Her manager or family should call the airlines and demand that she get a voucher for a hotel (keep demanding). I am dealing with the same thing right now with my wife who is stuck in Chicago because of the Denver closing. that really sucks....I like Brittni

If the roads weren't so bad, she could have stayed at my house, but I'm too far away, and broke. But zI hear people at the airport are having a good time. BTW, airport closed until at LEAST noon Friday.

Just called to try and help but they require a faxed authorization and I don't have a fax machine nearby. If someone's got one I can have it sent to shoot me a message.

Yeah, that's kind of weird.  Anytime weather has grounded me somewhere the airline has provided accommodations.  She really should be able to get a voucher.

Dear Christian,
I just called the hotel and they said her room is paid for through Saturday. I would like to help... can you help me know what else she might need?
Blessings & Namaste,
Michael

PS... strongly agree she should contact the airlines for compensation as well. Weather is not usually something they give out vouchers for, but if she or her parents are vocal enough, and at least speak to a supervisor, she might have luck.

I am stunned that anyone would get on a cross country flight with only $10 cash and no credit card much less an 18 year old.

WTF were you and ALL parties dealing with this young adult thinking?

Hmmm... so at no time in your life, especially when you were younger and almost always broke, did you get to the end of a trip with very little cash... yet you know you have a ticket to get home and family or friends waiting for you when you arrive back. Sometimes things happen, and we learn to dance with it. Or we get can angry or judgmental and berate ourselves or others over spilt milk. ;-)

The room is paid for 3 nights and incidentals, hopefully she's ok after that, before would be better, her family needs her for sure. Really, the model has the balls to take a chance on a career, if you got $10 in your pocket, then go for it. I respect her for that. Obviously she has been brought up well. I have a teenage daughter who models, i pray and hope that people would step up for her too. Christian, since
your in some form of contact with the young lady, ill pm my phone number for you should you need anything for the kid.

ya know, my first instinct was to say WTF why on earth would anyone make a trip like this with no money or credit cards. . . .

But, then I started thinking about when I was that age, and I've done the same thing many times, funny how we forget what its like to be young and willing to take big chances.

Oh, well, kudos to her for taking a chance on something she wants to do.

Let me know if there is anything I can help with, it seems as though the hotel is now paid for through Saturday, but what about food?

perhaps the lesson learned should come later.

the important thing is to help out someone else in the industry.

it's the effing holiday season. it's the season of miracles. no need to be such a scrooge.

glad to hear that she's ok- she should ABSOLUTELY be reimbursed by the airline...just curious...continental?

I have no stake in this other than trying to help a scared kid.

Im just curious why some people think the airline should reimburse her or cover her hotel costs, its not their fault the airport is shut down, more than likely it was a recommendation by the FAA to the airport itself, and had nothing to do with the airline.

Its like saying that if you rent a car to take on a trip and the roads get closed due to bad travel conditions, the car rental company should pay for your hotel.

This is where having emergency money or credit cards come into play.

because they can afford it and in some airline clauses they state that if any airport closes they will reimburse those that were supposed to leave a certain amount of money.

I was told that the airline isn't responsible if it's an "act of God" like weather.  Asking them to cover hotel was my first suggestion...

Her boyfriend's aunt put a card on file but fears it will be declined later.

I'm currently trying to order a pizza - if a pizza man can get to the hotel.  Thank God there's a restaurant in the hotel.  She told me the staff was all the same as yesterday... like they can't go home and new staff can't get there.

Getting a room was a miracle.

That's just been my experience, is all.  I thought it was common practice by the airlines.  It appears I thunk wrong!
