Who here has an awesome website?
I am looking to update my website for my personal work and I want to see where the bar has been set for fashion/glamour photography websites (i don't care so much about the work). I currently have a bludomain template, and I think it's fine for the money, but I want something more. Do you have, or know anyone who has a bitchin' website? (i bet it's been a while since you read the word bitchin' eh?) of course http://www.eccentris.com/splash.htm is about my favorite website of all time, but i contacted the designer (company name firstborn and that's apparently what they charge for a website) they charge $75,000 minimum and i am saving for a new Range Rover so that's out. anyone else have a link or suggestion that they want to share? thanks in advance for your feedback. [ b ] www.thebecker.net Dec 18 06 12:38 am Link i liked yours better, the one you think is best all time .. hate it.. my philosophy is that a photo website should be more like a coffee table book than a tv show when you look at a book of photos you simply turn pages, you dont squint at a thumbnail.. to me the only thing the website does is hold pictures.. anyways, your site is neat, well laid out.. Dec 18 06 03:36 am Link http://www.internetmodelclub.com and the bar has just been raised. If you want to "join" then contact me. The forum and chatroom will rock you! Dec 18 06 05:18 am Link Dec 18 06 05:22 am Link I toyed with the idea of my site being nothing but a page full of thumbnails you would clock on to see a larger version then I realized that would be overkill, lol. Dec 18 06 05:23 am Link Dec 18 06 05:31 am Link I think this guy's website is incredible! http://www.photographersportfolio.com Stephen Eastwood Photography It blows that Eccentris site away. Dec 18 06 05:39 am Link I don't think mine is fantastic, but it does the trick for me, It's still not fully function, but you'll get the point if you go to it www.photosalaquang.com Dec 18 06 06:00 am Link Patrick Walberg wrote: What a load of crap he meant real photographers there is no bar with your crap Dec 18 06 06:16 am Link [ b wrote: I really like horizontal scrolling sites for photography. Here are a few samples: Dec 18 06 06:30 am Link I think the new one I made for Bry is pretty good.. http://www.officialbryannanicole.com And sure.. eccentris is a sweet site.. but $75k for a web presence? Working in that field (web), even I find that a little ridiculous - but judging from his clients.. looks like he has money to burn.. Have a great day! Tracy Dec 18 06 06:41 am Link Dec 18 06 06:58 am Link I have seen the page turning portfolio before. I would like to do it for my site. Is it coded in flash or something else? Inquiring minds want to know! Thanks, Dave Bryanna Nicole wrote: Dec 18 06 07:00 am Link ...take a look at www.dgoldphoto.com Dec 18 06 07:08 am Link Dave Mullins wrote: Here is a link to a very good and very free page turning app in flash. If you have some flash knowledge you should be able to accomplish what you want with this file. Dec 18 06 07:10 am Link XtremeArtists wrote: Yes, the members are awesome Dec 18 06 07:28 am Link It's funny you want to change your site since I just recently stumbled upon your portfolio and really like your work and your web site. LOL But we all need change, right? Scrolling sites (like the Stephen Eastwood and Eolo Perfido sites) do seem to be the going trend. I like Flash sites that are easy to navigate, and I don't know that eccentris fits that bill. The site is beautiful, but it's hard to go back and find photos without looking through the entire collection again. Maybe that's the point? I like Ron Mac's work and his web site: http://www.ronmacphoto.com/ Not sure it's the direction you want to take your site, but I thought I'd toss it out there. Dec 18 06 07:29 am Link just remember.....K I S S i'm redoing my website and am keeping it as simple as possible. www.ericjonesphotography.com happy holidays eric Dec 18 06 07:52 am Link I have one, www.brewer35mm.com. For under $10 a mounth it's not all that bad. you get your own dot com. the server It is on is www.imodels.com Dec 18 06 07:57 am Link As far as straightforward portfolio sites go, I like Richard Warren's http://www.richardwarrenphotos.com/ . He also has a flash version that's a little diffrent. I'm not sure how well it would translate for a wedding photographer, but you never know. I also like http://www.psweddings.com/ from Paul Sanders. It has a nice interface and is easy to navigate. It will be interesting to see what you end up with, since I like your current site. Good luck! Dec 18 06 08:33 am Link i designed this website for my boss. nothing fancy, no flash. http://jfstudio.com i also designed this one for my makeup artist friend: http://jacquiehannan.com i need to redo my own site. it needs an update so bad. Dec 18 06 08:40 am Link [b]: I really like this guys site: http://www.thebecker.com/ Oh wait that's you!...lol. The guys that did your wedding photography site did a great job with your site and Mike Colon's site. Unless the "experience" was labored and you don't want to use them again it seems like they would do a good job for you. Here are a few that have some elements that you may want to consider. I mainly look for things to take away rether than the overall site itself: http://www.matthewmahon.com/ - not crazy about the mystery navagation but the zoom in/out concept has the "kool!' factor http://www.loworks.org/ - I'm not a fan of the grunge design but the navigation and design is outstanding http://www.lifevisuals.com/ - great design; may be too over the top for you but the gallery section has a cool way of handing the images http://www.kristindragomir.com/ - one of the best photographer sites that I've com across. My first thought was "are you kidding!?", then you saw what I didn't that it was just a lame ass plug. Pathetic. Here are my favorite photographer's websites. They are done very well, although your's is very nice too. I guess you are looking for people to say "kick ass" and "wicked awesome" or something but I don't say that! I like your site and I like these... Dec 18 06 10:43 am Link toan thai photography wrote: Both are wonderful designs and easy to navigate! Dec 18 06 11:13 am Link LITHIUM_PICNIC wrote: i use joomla too Dec 18 06 11:17 am Link Just some quick advice... As a general rule, you have about 10 seconds to make an impression with new visitors. In that time, you need to communicate the biggest benefit you offer. Having a professionally looking site is good, but that doesn't mean long flashy intros and irrelevant information. And flash based pages are horrible for search engine relevance.
