I have look at thousands of your profiles and the ones that really stand out a female ports.  I think it is because women are more comfortable posing for other women, or maybe female photographers are less concerned with the sex and more concerned with the art, what do you think.

I am studying photography, and when I take on something new I completely immerse myself in it.  I believe before you can make a truly unique statement you have to know and understand what everyone else is saying.

it's a inddiviual thing and prefernce on what you like and what is better. that's called an  opinion. Personally, I dn't have a favorite photographer. There might be something that I like, but it doesn't mean that I like their work as a whole. That's pretty much my point of view on the majority of what I've see on here and off. Even the well knowns, some of their work isn't that impressive to me. Example. Annie Liebovitz. I saw her work here at a gallery and wasn't impresssed at all.

Of course there are some outstanding males. But I too have noticed that more frequently females have outstanding ports. I think the male talent is deluted by those not shooting for the purposes of photography. But I also think you may be on to something with the comfort level as well.

The same reason that men make better auto mechanics.

what everyone is saying? everywhere? i mean, where do you start? in your own backyard? in your city? state? country? (...) and then how long & how far do you go?

sorry, kinda sceptical about the number of ports you've looked at; it might be true, dunno, but seems others are gonna argue we might all do better to concentrate our energies on improving our own work (i.e., directly working on creating new photos?), then maybe on the side balance (nuance, ahem) in a little time seeing what the, uh,..., competition is doing.

just two, backward cents,

Well, I've seen a LOT of men photographers with awesome ports as well as many with lousy ports. Same goes with women.  Overall I'd say there's more good than bad for both sexes, and perhaps because there are fewer women photographers here, there is less bad shots seen?  Just a thought....

IMHO, truly good photographers are more concerned about the shot than the actual subject in front of them - meaning that they can have a naked model, etc. in front of them and they aren't thinking sex, they are thinking shutter speed, F stop, composition, etc. - too busy to even realize what's before them until later. Whereas there are some photogs who are paying more attention to breasts, etc. and not the actual shot.

It's funny you posted this.. I was thinking of posting something similar a couple days ago. I think it's true. I know of several models/turned photographers who were better photographers from day one of picking up a camera than many of the men who claim to have done this for decades. I think perhaps it's because women are paying attention to the buttons on the box and we're paying attention to her buttons?

I don't think that's gender related, so much as the fact that models get a head start.  If they pay attention as they work, they can learn a whole lot about light and composition and what goes into making a good image.  By the time they first pick up a camera, it's possible to have gotten some really useful training that leapfrogs them ahead once they start shooting.

Which gives us the Bunny Yeagers, and the Sylvie Blums, and the Zoe Wisemans, and people like that.

HUH?  Do you mean that female photographers will comment on photos? One can be straight and still see beauty in a photo...

Psychologically, women tend to be more emotional and more expressive.  Men tend to be compositional.  Maybe women's work speaks to you more because it tends to be (tend is the key word) more emotionally expressive.

Any models need an ESCORT to her shoot?  I am volunteering my services and we'll show up in a LIMO too!  Wait!

How about a Male Model who is doubling as his own Escort?  Will that be suffice?

I can understand the male photographer's frustration with the presence of male escorts and shooting female models now.  Male escorts want to have sex with the model and will beat up the male photographer if he tries.

No sex either way.

=P

Female photographer, male escort, he'd be more than willing to have sex.  Not to say guys are easy or anything.

I do not agree with your observation. The most beautiful female pics I have seen were done by male photographers.

I don't think that men photographers have bad ports its just that if you sit here for 3+hours all their ports blur together, then one will stick out and for some reason they tend to be a females port.
