I have a list of models that I work on a regular basis. I really don't come up to models and ask anymore. That's what myspace is for. You just find out if she has myspace, and then add her. It's easier than just coming up to a girl while she's at work and creep her out. She might think you are using pickup lines.

did you get her name?  if she's not working, ask the manager - not about shooting, but about when she is working.  you get sort of a second hand intro that way.  also, if she'd get in trouble talking to you during business hours, you'll know and can tailor your approach a bit.
