I'm finding that more and models who like to do pin-up are also carrying a fair amount of ink these days.  Is it becoming more acceptable, or not?  I'm iffy on the subject....

From what I've seen society as a whole is becoming atleast a tad bit more tolerant on the whole body mods thing and I don't see why that wouldn't reflect in the models out there.

No, I prefer models to be "spotless" and natural, I photoshop like 75% of all the tattoo`s off my models, it`s a pain in the ass, but a "have to do" in my styles, I do let some tats fly right when they are good ole skool one`s but on the most part many gals have crappy and unfinished ones....so it`s photoshop time for them......

*I have insider info that Playboy`s just shot someone I know who`s got "alot" of tattoos, I have to see what they do with that one......?*

In general, yeah.

Tattoos and piercings are starting to become more popular in Hollywood, too, but it's still harder for marked actors to get a wide variety of gigs.

Time and place appropriate. There is nothing worse than a gorgeous girl with horrendous tattoos. Tattoos can be gorgeous (and easily hidden with dermablend) or they can just be train wrecks....

I know that I won't bother photographing a tattoo -- they are a waste of my time.

i know i wish i didnt have any tattoos... they are a pain to try and cover, and a waste of time for a mua to cover because they still have to be photoshopped.

But then again, i have a surgery scar on my stomach that i am not fond of, and when my pictures get retouched, that is usually the first thing to go, so im not sure how much trouble it would be for a photographer to erase a tattoo.. i have never tried it. i guess it is a personal prefrence though, and some photographers wont even waste time photographing a model with body art.

I hate having tattoos! I have one on my lower middle back (no surprise eh?) and a small butterfly on my hip. They're very easy to hide but sometimes I still wish I was 100% natural smile

Alot of pinups these days have tattoos.

Amity myspace.com/thrillkitten has a bunch
Sabina Kelley myspace.com/sabinakelley has a bunch
cherry dollface myspace.com/cherrydollface, the lovely washington pinup has lovely sleeves
and gogo amy from washington (myspace.com/gogoamy) has her share as well

Those are just a few examples of successful pinups that have a fair amount of tattoo work on them. Its definitely not taking away from their amazing work.
Also look at my photos, a bunch of those girls have little ones, like Bernie Dexter and Dayna Delux

It seems like tattooed pinup is starting to take off.  Look at websites like www.deviantnation.com or www.godsgirls.com and you'll see it especially.

Thanks for the responses.  It seems the verdict is....it's up to the photographer to make it work, and if done right, it prolly doesn't matter.

So it's up to me to keep an open mind, and execute the shot.

I most definitly am NOT a fan of tattooes.  I find it so sad to see beautiful woman disfigure them selfs over a trend.  I typically will bypass a model with tattoes.  I would never tell someone what they so do or not do as I have no right to do so.  But, I have the right to only work with models that have no tattooes.

My favorite model to work with is covered with tattoos (27). So, anytime a model/tattoo thread is started, I gotta' post shots of my girl, Leila! smile

I prefer my Pin-Up models to be 100% ink-free, but they are hard to find.

personally I like model's tattoos to be large pieces on only a few parts of their body, not sprawled randomly about
just my opinion

the kinds of girls that get tattoos now are most certainly not the kind that would get tattoos 20 years ago. I think its grown in popularity and become something you see more and more everyday lately. Im thrilled!

Personally I won't get any.... I have passed on models with them... and I have chosen models because of them... but I hate to see crapy work! What a waste!

If your "iffy on the subject", your probably like many of us (not all) who don't like them.
The tattoo thing has gotten out of hand and it's harder to find a pretty girl without ink on her.
I don't like them so I try to avoid them; they screw up my pictures.
Tattoos and plastic boobs, many prefer the natural figure.

folks, don't forget: his question was in reference to pinup models and tattoos. not just tattoos in general.

I have no experience in Pinup modeling therefore I will not leave my thoughts on that.

carry on.

You could always flip it.  Think how ordinary she would be without all of that ink.

Not that I think she's ordinary.  She's perfectly lovely as is.

Yes, right, the original topic.  Well, since there are websites out there that focus soley on featuring pinups with ink, I would say it's gotten pretty acceptable.
