Models with ink and Pinup - more acceptable today?
I'm finding that more and models who like to do pin-up are also carrying a fair amount of ink these days. Is it becoming more acceptable, or not? I'm iffy on the subject.... David Nov 16 06 10:32 pm Link From what I've seen society as a whole is becoming atleast a tad bit more tolerant on the whole body mods thing and I don't see why that wouldn't reflect in the models out there. Nov 16 06 10:50 pm Link I still don't like "ink" on skin. Nov 16 06 11:02 pm Link No, I prefer models to be "spotless" and natural, I photoshop like 75% of all the tattoo`s off my models, it`s a pain in the ass, but a "have to do" in my styles, I do let some tats fly right when they are good ole skool one`s but on the most part many gals have crappy and unfinished ones....so it`s photoshop time for them...... *I have insider info that Playboy`s just shot someone I know who`s got "alot" of tattoos, I have to see what they do with that one......?* Nov 16 06 11:05 pm Link In general, yeah. Tattoos and piercings are starting to become more popular in Hollywood, too, but it's still harder for marked actors to get a wide variety of gigs. Nov 17 06 12:22 am Link Time and place appropriate. There is nothing worse than a gorgeous girl with horrendous tattoos. Tattoos can be gorgeous (and easily hidden with dermablend) or they can just be train wrecks.... Nov 17 06 10:38 am Link I know that I won't bother photographing a tattoo -- they are a waste of my time. Nov 17 06 05:39 pm Link Is this ok? RB Nov 17 06 05:42 pm Link i know i wish i didnt have any tattoos... they are a pain to try and cover, and a waste of time for a mua to cover because they still have to be photoshopped. But then again, i have a surgery scar on my stomach that i am not fond of, and when my pictures get retouched, that is usually the first thing to go, so im not sure how much trouble it would be for a photographer to erase a tattoo.. i have never tried it. i guess it is a personal prefrence though, and some photographers wont even waste time photographing a model with body art. Nov 17 06 05:44 pm Link I hate having tattoos! I have one on my lower middle back (no surprise eh?) and a small butterfly on my hip. They're very easy to hide but sometimes I still wish I was 100% natural Nov 17 06 05:45 pm Link Alot of pinups these days have tattoos. Amity myspace.com/thrillkitten has a bunch Sabina Kelley myspace.com/sabinakelley has a bunch cherry dollface myspace.com/cherrydollface, the lovely washington pinup has lovely sleeves and gogo amy from washington (myspace.com/gogoamy) has her share as well Those are just a few examples of successful pinups that have a fair amount of tattoo work on them. Its definitely not taking away from their amazing work. Also look at my photos, a bunch of those girls have little ones, like Bernie Dexter and Dayna Delux -Susana Nov 17 06 06:02 pm Link It seems like tattooed pinup is starting to take off. Look at websites like www.deviantnation.com or www.godsgirls.com and you'll see it especially. Nov 17 06 07:24 pm Link Love tattoos if they are classy! https://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=429406 Nov 17 06 07:33 pm Link just buy an issue of vogue or look at a new juicy cotoure ad if ya wanna see ink. wow that feels weird even saying it... but its true. Nov 17 06 07:33 pm Link KoolGirlieStuff wrote: they did and there is more to come... Nov 17 06 07:36 pm Link Thanks for the responses. It seems the verdict is....it's up to the photographer to make it work, and if done right, it prolly doesn't matter. So it's up to me to keep an open mind, and execute the shot. David Nov 17 06 07:45 pm Link I most definitly am NOT a fan of tattooes. I find it so sad to see beautiful woman disfigure them selfs over a trend. I typically will bypass a model with tattoes. I would never tell someone what they so do or not do as I have no right to do so. But, I have the right to only work with models that have no tattooes. Nov 17 06 07:53 pm Link My favorite model to work with is covered with tattoos (27). So, anytime a model/tattoo thread is started, I gotta' post shots of my girl, Leila! Spike Nov 17 06 07:57 pm Link Rossi Photography wrote: Just think how really beautiful she would be without all that ink? Nov 17 06 07:58 pm Link Nelia wrote: I think her ink is beautiful. Nov 17 06 08:01 pm Link personally I like model's tattoos to be large pieces on only a few parts of their body, not sprawled randomly about just my opinion -Susana Nov 17 06 08:03 pm Link Nelia wrote: Tattoos are hardly a trend... Nov 17 06 08:06 pm Link the kinds of girls that get tattoos now are most certainly not the kind that would get tattoos 20 years ago. I think its grown in popularity and become something you see more and more everyday lately. Im thrilled! -Susana Nov 17 06 08:10 pm Link Personally I won't get any.... I have passed on models with them... and I have chosen models because of them... but I hate to see crapy work! What a waste! "Just my 2 cents..." he say, climding down off his soapbox. Nov 17 06 08:33 pm Link folks, don't forget: his question was in reference to pinup models and tattoos. not just tattoos in general. I have no experience in Pinup modeling therefore I will not leave my thoughts on that. carry on. Nov 17 06 08:34 pm Link Nelia wrote: You could always flip it. Well, since there are websites out there that focus soley on featuring pinups with ink, I would say it's gotten pretty acceptable. Nov 17 06 08:40 pm Link Kali Doom wrote: I concur.
