Don't know if I'd call this my favorite but it has the most comments in my port so I'll go with it.
The original was bright full of yellows and mid-day sun. I hand took it to dark of night using tools and actions I created in CS2 and then painted light on to each little bar individually for more realism; a lot of work but an enjoyable outcome for me and hopefully you.

I can't do it.

If I picked one, the others would all be pissed, rise up and beat the hell out of me.

My usual answer would be something like "my next one" or "i haven't taken it yet" -- but today i feel like playing by the rules:

I was in New York in Monday and saw this woman in the late afternoon across from St Patrick's where "I am Legend" was being filmed - which I happened to stumble upon.

https://www.fmcphoto.com/streetlady.jpg

The scene moved me. I shot a few frames, then I saw a man go out of his way to drop some money in her cup. He spotted me, approached, and said, "You're going to give her some money, right? You're taking her picture; you should. I'm a photographer too."  Then he walked away and dissapeared into the crowd.

I know I've already posted but, like I said in my original response, I change my mind often.

I was at an auto race a couple of weeks ago. It was late and the light was gone. I was somewhere between the stands and the pit, had a long lens and no tri or monopod. This woman was talking to a friend about 20 yards away and suddenly turned to walk away. I don't know what it was about her that caught my eye, other than that she was striking ly beautiful. I raised my camera and snapped off a shot.

It was a fluke shot. Technically flawed. And one of my favorite shots ever. I wish I could find her - I'd love to shoot her!

"bests" are so hard. because sometimes its very hard to pick just one. especially when a collection is important to you.  to me, all of my work adds up to one whole, which shows who i am, where ive been, and what ive felt. most of my photos have alot of sentimental value. if i were to have to narrow it down to one image that held the most emotional value, and was also very visually pleasing, id pick this one....

Posted on a tuesday about 4pm just before a shoot, the next day at 10:30 the model called and said to take her pics off the web and hung up on me. When I got to the studio at 2pm I found my email had more than 50 new mails about the post. At 3pm I took a look and the shot had over 1100 looks and still counting. The model called again and said she didn't want anymore calls or emails and to take her site down, she had over 600 mails and half were from people who wanted her to shoot noodies. She ended up with a few paying gigs from those mails.... Not my best shot, but definately a hit

This is pretty tough company to mix with.  I was especially moved by Kaitlin's and Lotus' photos and explanations.

I think this recent shot is probably my favorite, not because it's such great work but because the woman in it is my best friend, phenominal lover, sweetest woman I've ever known and probably the best looking 44 year old I've ever seen.

This was back in May of 2004 in Daikin Nebraska. This tornado went on to set a width record for a tornado at 2.5 miles wide!!! Eventually it wiped a little town of Hallam Nebraska off the map.

Don't you enjoy creating art from that which didn't exist before you created it. I love the combination of camera and computer done this way. Someone on MM suggested that we strive harder to use these tools in new ways to create a new form of art as opposed to trying to replicate old photographic processes with these new tools. Good job and thanks for the explanation.

The best part about Fashion is we make pictures. I made this one, it didn't happen by accident or good luck.

https://www.johnfisher.com/images/reject1bw.jpg
Inga Buketova and Jonathan, my studio in the Design District

I've always said that I felt bad for Richard Avedon when I first saw his picture of Nastassja Kinski and the snake. He had to know he would never take a picture that good again. Fortunately I don't have that problem, clearly I haven't imagined my best picture yet.

I also agree with Bob. When Les Paul put an amplifier on the side of his guitar, he didn't make it louder, he created a new musical environment. It's given us every thing from genius of Jimi Hendrix to embarrassment of Milli Vinilli. The digital camera and the computer have given us a new visual creative opportunity, the only thing limiting the future will be our own prejudices and laziness.
