off of this site? I don't use this site to make money, though I have gotten a few gigs. It does seem more like the bar after work, where you can make friends and contacts, but I seem to make quite a bit more money off of other sites....I like hanging out and bs ing here, but money? I get more stuff off of myspace...pathetic but true.

yeah, that is what I figured. I know I certainly don't get paid to be a mod. So I am a really big retard. I haven't even gotten my 'free' t-shirt. Wonder if I can get it in black in black writing?

I get next to nothing but some free webspace to show off my pics! LOL  sad... but true!  I have actually gotten more off of MySpace too.  My last gig was off of MySpace and I've just been contacted by someone else for another paying gig off of it...  I also don't get anything out of OMP.  Pretty sad there too.  This area is scarce of anyone who really uses Craig's List.

Ironic...
I get more from myspace as well!?!
I love this site, but never had a paying job...yet myspace is not even a model site and WALLAH! people contract me for work...cool, wierd, but cool.
Bottom line....normal people are willing to put a price on what they want, start up models wont?

Well, here's the thing. I do make money as a direct result of this site. Enough to justify paying models from here plus make a small profit too. But then, my business model is very very different from that of many of the other members.

I'll be honest though. I was making much more money back when I was shooting porn. It's certainly the easiest and quickest way to make money at this girlie stuff. At least for me it is. And I've been seriously considering doing it again. Only under a psuedonymn this time.

But, I do this first because I love it. And second to help to pay for all my photo toys. It's a break from my day job of photographing dog leashes and bookmarks and photo frames and shit like that. Boring stuff. And the half naked babes are my escape.

I don't make money directly through the site - I don't get business through models or clients on here. My portfolio's coming along nicely though and it's great networking with models, MUAs, hair stylists, and designers - and I draw from that base for the gigs that pay.

just ignore it, it happens to me on there sometimes too.  but since i use it strictly for networking and i state that i am a photographer on there they seem to back off and not do it as they would for a personal profile with simply things about the person.  if that made any sense to you, lol.  i also specifically state that i will ignore people, and that usually keeps them at bay.

You can make money. I've done enough shoots where I have been paid four digits for a shoot & have meet over 100 models that make a living as a model.

i have been flown in to a couple countries. they paid for my airfare, food, hotel.
EVERYTHING. i also got compensation. one country i went to actually was 16 hours by flight! needless to say, the airfare for that was at least 1000 dollaRs!

i know hard to believe, huh? especially when no one saw me in real life first!

i have been very blessed.

my point is DO NOT lose hope if you are a model and serious about it.

Personally, my dreams and goals are in life are not to be a model. I have different goals.

I wish every bodybody that best.

If you're in this ONLY for the money, then PORN is the answer.

If you're in this for the Ego, self satisfaction, art, or fame, Porn will not suffice...

Can you use any evil minions?

And to answer the original question, of my four paid jobs to date, one came from MM. smile One from MySpace, and two from referrals.

I've gotten a couple of paying gigs off this site actually.  My main reason for being here is not financial though thank god because I'd starve...lol.  My day job provides my funds...my modelmayhem makes the day job pass much faster!

Ok dammit - how do I break into the porn biz?!?!?!? I could use some of those toys...lol. I can take the pics - I can find the models - how do I get the customers willing to pay for them?!?!

I come here (meaning MM) for the fun of it more than anything else.  As for making money.....I agree..have made more $$$ on modeling photography from craigslist than anything else.

I don't use this site to make money, either, I do a lot of TFP/CD because it helps me improve...I make money by working a day job and then I spend it on on school and my son! Yay me!

I've made some money off of here. Definately more here and on OMP (more on OMP I believe) than on any other sites that I'm a member of. But then, I treat this like another part time job (geesh, one of three now....) and work hard at it to make it work for me. I have to, its funding my education!

As far as the porn biz goes - don't be so quick to think that it is easy money. Its not easy to break into the porn biz anymore. It used to be, about a decade and a little more ago. That was when the internet was new and people joined sites because that was all that there was. Now they are a dime a dozen, and its not so easy. If you've got someone that you can work with, then its a bit easier. But in general, the "mom and pop" type sites set up by somebody in their own home are tough to get off the ground. Its possible... just not easy.

Money? Na..

I first came onto MM to help promote busines. As a newbie I made some remarks that had he MODS "concerned" about me. Thinking I was a sluggo, I was banned. I pleaded my case, had a few scraps and removed my website link from MM.

Long story short..
I use MM to network and blow off steam. It really isnt a place for me to make money as I work more on the production side of things and all my shoots require agency models and actors.

I like the fact that my company isnt directly linked here becuase it's a blast in the forums when people make assumptions as to "whatever" because they think you are GWC.

MM, is a lot of fun and a great aside from the rigors of business. I know quite a few who make it work in a revenu building way. It depends on how you use it.

Me? Just fun fun fun...

To date, I haven't earned a single photography dime as a result of being on MM.  I've got a couple of things in the works presently, but I'm not counting that until I have cash in hand...
