That's very cool. I used to race motocross, and that was my favorite magazine.

The editor Fran Kuhn gave me my start in magazines. It was with his and Ervind Boyeesen of Boyeseen reeds help that I was able to go to Europe and Asia for ten years covering GP's. Shooting sometimes for RacerX now on the outdoor Nationals.

1991 -  Some of my color nature shots were published, including a large horizontal imsage accross the entire front page, above the fold, in the Sunday travel section of one of America's largest circulation newspapers.  I did not cash the not so grand check for at least a month as I was showing it to all my friends.  You never, ever forget the first.

1981, local and national newspaper.  I tackled the robot the firemen used to demonstrate fire safety in my elementary school.  Aparently my fear of and aggression towards the unmanned foreign object was humorous.

Other than that, nothing on paper.

As a model, The Spectator (California "sex" newspaper) in '93
As a photographer, if you count Long Beach Community College's paper, I had a photo entered in the state-wide photojournalism competition, as well as a lot of photos taken for the paper in 2002. If you don't count it, this year in an erotic art show in Dallas.

Though lots of models I've shot have used images of mine for their avatars both here and on myspace.

That is a secret..LOL!
I have shot for 5 photography book projects, only 1 book has been published so far with about 74 of my pics in it. Digital Boudoir photography by John G. Blair
Then I have 2 pages in Kiss Magazine, the latest issue #5 as the Featured Girl of Kiss. (the rock group)
Oh the local newspaper was my very 1st for a Valentines Day print ad for a photo studio with the caption, "Picture Perfect."

Women's Wear Daily, 4 pages and a full page ad for Macy*s in the newspapers simultaneously (in 1984). That was fun.

my first published image was the cover of "show biz west magazine" of henry fonda, his last fromal sitting; during which time he was called by jane and asked if he would like to be in a film called "on golden pond" with her.  the whole story is actually quite amazing but beyond the scope of this post.  all best, saverio

First credited published photo was a bodice-ripper paperback cover in B&W around 1987.  I've never even seen that paperback and the check wasn't huge either.  Before that a few uncredited ads in local freebie mags and such.

In the year 2000 (I forget which issue), The Industry Standard, which was a computer industry magazine print magazine, based out of San Francisco, which went belly-up not long after. I shot some lifestyles-ish editorial portraits of dot.com execs.

They paid the highest rates I've ever been paid for editorial work.

That was one FAT magazine! Yes, those were the days...

(My first published photo was probably some dull unmemorable picture of a car dealership building in one of the magazines I publsihed in the 1990s. But in my current incarnation as a photographer of living models, my very first photoshoot was with a model wearing expensive eyeglasses for an eyewear ad that ran in one of my custom magazines during 2004/2005.)

Not sure whether it really was the first time, but the shot I most remember being published was one I took at a demonstration which made the front page of the newspaper in Holland's fourth largest city (Utrecht), where I was then living. Quite a kick to see your shot on every newsstand in town.

That was a long time ago, in the mid-Eighties and I have since turned to other forms of journalism.
