I'm interested in trying a little experiment to see if height affects your perspective. Can every photographer here post their height? 5'10" here.

5'5"  and it does impact me, especially with a taller model... Fortunately, with man's adaptability, I've learned how to either use it for an advantage, or work around it.  Being short, I'm also fairly light, which means I can stand on a lot of things. smile

5'10 here... eye to eye with most fashion models when they're barefoot (which they tend to be quite often on my shoots when shoes aren't specifically involved as I usually don't like the "up-the-nose/glamourous superwoman" perspective). When I use waist-level finders I usually need an apple box, which I rarely seem to have with me on location, and I've worn down the latches on a number of cases from standing on them all the time.

When I shoot non-fashion types I tend to have to either use longer lenses than I'd like to, or else bend my knees to make myself several inches shorter in order to avoid making them look stubby.

These answer your question?

5'1. The ladder is my best friend when shooting models.

For the most part though my height has not been a problem as a photojournalist.  no doubt though, when I'm working in the big city as a photojournalist, in the middle of all the tall photographers, I will have to allways find something tall to stand on to get the picture.

5'10".

I also have a slipped disc, I know my shooting has changed for the past two years with a lot less low-camera shots.

But that might be balanced by another factor: moving into a much large space -- low ceilings in the old space meant I had to shoot from as high as possible to avoid going off the top of the backdrop.

5'11", but I've spent much of my time crouched down to kids' height.

lol, I'm a female photographer and I'm only 4'11 but I dont' find that a problem with my models, not really anyways sometime i do have to stand on something. But don't most pictures look better anyway from slightly below vs from on top because then the model looks at short and stubby? Just my opinion, most time I had to bent a little to get a better spective. From down below models will look taller! You only get the model's nose hole if your like underneath them, duh!

I still need a stool to get an overhead perspective. I think you'd need to be 8'. Problem is all the deep knee bends and squats I have to do. Sometimes it feels like the day after the first day of soccer practice... Oww that deep ache right next to the bone, or am I getting old ;-|

5'7". i actually think it's not bad when shooting models who are 5'10" or 5'11".  you're at a perfect level for head/shoulder beauty work. do a pryamid stance for 3/4 or full length shots. or have the model do the pyramid stance if you want to be eye-level hahah

6' 5" and I have to be careful or all the models end up having short stubby legs from shooting at to high an angle

Im signed into my modelling account but I'm also a photog, and 5'5" - 5'6" ish. So far I haven't really worked with any REALLY tall models, but when the time comes I'm sure I'll work around it some how (like by wearing 8" heels haha).

I've only had a problem with one model.  She was 6'3".  I've had an inferiority complex ever since.

5'8" but as much bending over as I do to get shots, I wouldn't mind being a bit shorter.

As I'm reading about everyone's heights, I'm beginning to think that perhaps being 5'1 can be an advantage too.  I think about all the positions I get my body in while photographing and how low I get to the ground sometimes...I think it is easier to do so at my height...

So, what kind of experiment is this anyway?

5'8", I'm relatively short but I very seldom shoot standing up, I'm always kneeling down, climbing stuff or lying on my belly like a reptile getting the shot.  I'm way too old for this stuff.

5'4" and I've worked with some models that would be tall to a bball star... so far it hasn't been too much of a problem. I'm a big fan of ladders though.!

5'6" - But I too am either climbing, kneeling, laying at a funny angle...  Rarely do I stand up to take a shoot... it doesn't feel natural.

Exactly 5'10"

This is very practical when casting runway models, when they hand me their compcard, say that they are 5'10", their compcard says 5'10" and they wear heels and I look slightly down on them...

Spotting the tall-fakers fast... big_smile

5'10". If I'm talking into your chest, it's because you're too damn tall.

It's a good height. Most of the time I need to get low anyways for full body shots.
