Now THAT's a gem to look at! Check it before they'll remove this, obviously not intended for the mortal eye....

Priceless. I don't let anyone see unedited images of me, and I'm no one.

I'd like to note for some of the "YOU NEED TO BE MORE EFFICIENT SHOOTING!!!!" folks on the site that there are 488 OUTTAKES *gaspthehorror* on that page for ONE photo!

I wonder how long those will stay up. When will they realize that they're being seen by the general public? Hah, their server will probably crash because of too much traffic.

This is interesting.... you see all the posts "professional" photogs put on here saying that they don't take 100's of images... that they are so good they get the shot they need in only a few takes...

uh-hum ( clears throut) remembering a recent thread.  I guess this photog must be one of those 1%-ers.   I mean why would he need to take so many shots...

You see people even the best photogs have to capture just the "right" one... even if it takes about 500 shots like this shoot did.... you don't hear madonna complaining in the media, saying i can't believe a photog took so many pics.... do you think she thought he was amateur....

Yea...It was shot film at least part of it as far as I can tell...But I see no big deal in shooting of so many frames to get one good shot, I mean as long as you get it who cares how many pictures you took...I looked through most of the pictures and actually found that I liked some of them the disco ball caused some great selective lighting.

Probably not, but this is not an everyday occasion to check what Steven Klein shoots... hehe.

Steven Klein shoots in the manner that is appropriate for the style and type of shoot/client he is dealing with. Do not for a moment assume that because he opted to catch Madonna in motion and in motion lighting environments, that the shooting style employed here is the same style applied to more controlled subjects.

... i'm quite sure there's more one can learn from viewing these images than bolstering one's already intractable beliefs.

Which makes me wonder: WOULD MADONNA LIKE IT?
I don't think so, either.

You're sure right!
I assisted NYC's top shooters for years, and I know the drill.
Just nice to share with others... not many people get to see outtakes nowadays.
Or ever.

I think especially for this particular shoot (available light, movement, etc) it's wasn't easy to get a good shot.
What doesn't really mean that shooting 500 photos will get you a definite shot you can use ...

I think a lot of those shots are very good examples of outtakes.

Dunno.. For outtakes..  I thought she looked pretty good..  Not that every shot was a keeper or anything..  Or that I'm even a fan of Madonna..

But I'd be lying if I said she wasn't well put together..

As for the shooting..  Just because he only picked one shot..  There were quite a few more that you could do quite a bit with... So.....

Not sure what the controversy is here..?

Got to give Black Ricco credit.. He knows how to stir the shit with a minimum of words....  I didn't get it at first either....  (And after this he will probably hunt me down and kill me for spoiling the fun..)

But you guys do realize that he's 90% just fucking with you, right?

I'm sure you can dig up about 8025025 threads of people pointing out the 'flaws' with such shooting styles.  Black Ricco just sharpened the edges.  smile

The "posing" was exceptional....IMO.

I noticed a lot of exposure problems in the boudoir/glamour shots at the end due to the amber lighting.  I have that problem too alot.  I was glad to see I'm not the only one.

that is too funny!  She just looks so....OLD.  There comes a point where you just gotta start dressing your age.  You don't necessarily have to act it, but c'mon!  I don't know about the rest of the guys out there, but 50+ year old legs just doesn't do anything for me...and I'm a leg man smile

I have the robotic disco lights to do something like that and have been planning on doing so.

If there are any models here who like to do a shoot like you just saw, speak up.

Not much of a controversy at all....rather a rare opportunity to see some unretouched Madonna pics and an unedited set of images by Mr. Klein!

Please tell me somebody has a few...

As a photographer constantly comparing my unedited images to pro edited images... it would nice to see some inclination that these photos just don't pop perfectly out of the camera all ready to go...
