Oh yeah, and I find them easier to work with because things aren't handed to them on a silver plater, they have better personalities and usually more intelligence.  Just me

A lot like laptops vs. desktop computers, they're easier to carry around to shoots.

Generally eat less too.

Try not to use them for river shots; you may never see them again!

aww thank you so much for this post!  It's nice to know we little people are loved...too bad it's so damn hard to get signed on with an agency though.  Half of them won't even look at us unless we're atleast 5'6.

Easier to fit in a frame, if I shoot too wide- can affect proportions.  My "studio" is not big and I try to use my 85 when I can.

Actually my father always gives thanks to that.  He thought he wanted boys, but because I take so much less to maintain, I save him wads of money.  tongue

Then that wad goes right back to me for other things because he loves me so much for saving him money.

heeheee

It is a wonderful cycle.

I have found some models that are about 5'4 and are all, "I'm the worlds next Super Star Model". But most of them just love to have great pictures of them and it is like a hobby.  Sort of the, "If I can't do it for a living, I will do it for my own enjoyment" attitude.

These types tend to be more fun to work with.  They don't constantly look at their watches.  They are will to try new ideas and even come up with one or two really cool ideas of their own.

The only thing I DON'T like about short models is that I can't seem to find any in my area. Must be doing something wrong.

Much more energy and often totally fearless, not scared of bringing their own quirky humour to a shot.

It's also fun watching them trying to get their ID above the bar top if we decide to relax with a beer later.

PS.I shoot the tall ones too to remind me what it feels like to be intimidated big_smile

They're easier for me to do touch-ups on b/c I am short myself. Those poor tall girls need to bend over a bit for me to retouch their lipgloss!

I don't know why that should be funny just because they can't see me as I climb on the stool.  tongue  Man it takes arm muscles.  ^^ GRrrr check out these triceps.

So, if models under 5'9 are considered short by industry standards (and that *other* post eliminates models under 5'9 from responding), but this post only considers models 5'2" and shorter as short... where does that leave those of us in the middle? Is there a post for models 5'3" to 5'8" around here? lol. I can't get a break! I'm either too short, or not short enough! =-P

Yes, I'm a whopping 5'4"... too tall to fit in your pocket, but hopefully still cute enough to shoot! lol.

1. On Internet, models of any size can be any size they want to be
2. Lying down, all models are about the same height
3. Small & petite = cute and huggable. That's not a disadvantage
4. I don't have to stand on a bucket to look through my lens at eye level
5. Beauty comes from the inside out.

Attitude is more important than altitude, and most other things.

I’ve been buying wardrobe for the models I’ve been shooting with and we can shop in the children’s department at times and the cost of clothing is much less then the adult sizes.
Granted some of the styles are not what they could be, but more times then not, the thrift stores will have designer clothing in small/petite and extra small sizes that don’t sell as easily as the larger sizes and I end up scoring.

This is not without it’s drawbacks, I bought a cute retro dress off of eBay a few weeks ago thinking it would fit Lucy who is 5’-0â€?/102 lbs, the dress is a 4/P and was 2 sizes too big for Lucy so I had another model wear it at the last network meeting https://modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pic_id=446b52761e16b

Bottom line, I really like shorter models.
