If a model can be a muse, ie: an inspiration for creativity, the photographer may also fulfill this role for the model if she is an artist herself. I'm sure as photographers have experience with models who cannot emote so do models have experience with photographers who just leave them cold. I've always liked photographing actors and fina artists for this very reason.
