You all must pay the bills.

And photography is not the most lucrative ways to eak out a living. There can be dry spells.

Assume it is for Hustler or a contemporary version of Blue Boy.

Why not?

I'm a photographer. I make my living by providing photography services for money. If I see a check with appropriate numbers on it, I will do the shoot - Even if it's a football game (or even fake boobs, ewwwww)

I shot private porn (as in for the private pleasures of this particular couple) many a time. I had few dudes book me to shoot their wives/girlfriends masturbating. With one guy we duck taped his wife to the railing and he wanted ME to apply baby oil to her. I have never done sexual intercource, but these were the "most fun of all" shoots. I totally recommend.

Depending on what kind of porn it is, I'd shoot it.

Hell if anyone has any leads just email me.

I'd rather shoot decent porn than have to work in a cubicle under fluorescent lights all day.

I just backed out on an oppurtunity to shoot a porn video; money was good and it probably would have been fun an interesting but I have borders and boundries in my life and this crossed them.  It is like putting a dollar value on the price of your "soul".  If others choose to make their living that way that's there business but it is not for me.  Besides shooting naked people and making it say sex is easy; ANYONE could do that.  It takes a true artist to photograph naked people and make it mean something more than just sex.

I wouldn't.

Why - because I drew a line in the sand regarding what styles I would shoot before I started my business.

I do not judge those who do, or see my self better or more holy from some moral perspective, rather I do not think for me as a husband I should spend allot (or any) of my time with naked or semi-naked women photographing them.

Again, this is my line for ME and not my ideals that I project on anyone else, model or photographer.

Since I still have a day job, I dont have the ultimate crunch in regard to paying off the money I have borrowed, but when I transition to doing this full time and it comes down to paying the bills I firmly believe I will be able to make enough money doing non-nude or non-porn (as the thread calls it).

So far I have only been asked on three occasions to do it and earlier today I had to send an email to a client informing her that as part of her portrait package, there would not be any nude, semi-nude shots that she had specifically requested.

My final though is this - there are plenty of photographers who will perform such work and who do a wonderful job that the clients and models will never be stuck unable to find a willing photog.

Not me.  I have other sources of income.  I shoot strictly for enjoyment.

But, since I live in The South, many people already think I shoot porn because there are nipples in some of my pictures.

LOL, that name is great, someone should try it sometime. I'm not worried about making money off of my photography, I'm still only doing TFCD. Plus, I'm in school studying Medicine anyhow. I know there's money there and I would like doing it smile whatever it is I end up doing with it.

I make 100% of my income from this industry, it is all that I do.  I draw a bright line in the sand, nothing past Playboy style.  I shoot more non-nude than nude for money.  I work often though.

If I went over to the dark side, I would lose my commercial clients, particularly the children's toy companies that I shoot for.

I agree that money is money, but there are things that I would not do.

That having been said, I have no problem with those that do, it just isn't for me.

Shooting porn to me is more about profit then it is the art. 99 times out of 100 - I would NOT shoot porn.

I can pay my bills just fine.

The funny part about this thread is that if you asked all the people saying "I'd never shoot porn" what porn actually is, none of them could tell you.  Or  more accurately, they'd all tell you something totally different.

I shoot porn, because i enjoy it.

Ditto. I always turn it down too. I haven't been asked in a while, though, thankfully.

Funny story, semi-related: I was contacted by some dimwit on the Other site to shoot her, "TFP" blah blah. Then she forgets what she had asked so she wants me to remind her. I tell her. She said that's weird, she never does anything for free, what did I have in mind? Couple, girl girl, or solo? She was about to send me her rates. Again I tell her, SHE contacted me, and anyway I would just do a "solo" - meaning, in my head, just photos of HER.

Of course, "solo" means masturbation, I've come to find out. No wonder she never wrote back LOL

I would never shoot porn. In the future, I may do artistic nude once I become more experienced.

I define porn as visual materials for the purpose of making the viewer become horny...I want my work to evoke other feelings such as happiness, sadness, curiosity, etc

Heh, if it paid the bills I'd  shoot porn.  But I can understand why people who do go to great lengths to hide their identity, and why some people would prefer not to shoot it at all.

I might, for the experience..  I wouldn't show it in my port..

Personally, I could care less and don't see it as a question relative to photography..

Now, if I were someone who was going to try to solicit models to shoot pornography, that would be another thing.  But I won't even ask a model to shoot nude..

I'd be happy to do so, and have done so.  But only in cases where that's what the subject wanted..

Now before anyone says I'm knocking those that won't shoot.. I'm not.  To me, the only thing that could be creepy in the profession of photography is shooting something you're NOT ok with, or trying to get your subject(s) to do the same..

WGR

ps..

Someone brought up a good point though.. What IS your definition of porn?  I bet we don't see two answers that match..

I never would because I value my marriage and my wife.
As a husband, I would never want my wife to ever question, even for a second, my faithfulness to her...
Not even for a million dollars.

What is porn? If it has emotional impact, artistic vision and portrays real, powerful, emotion and passion. Is it Porn? Are the sculptures of Rodin Porn????? Is Hindu temple art portraying sexual intercourse porn????

hmmm, if your work would make your wife question you, if she doesn't trust you enough with your actions, than perhaps you might want to start questioning. I suppose if you were a gynaecologist, your marriage wouldn't last a day.

What does shooting a nude model or porn have to do with this?

It seems your marriage is already in trouble...i.e., trust issues.

P.S.

I've never been asked.  Man...my work must suck.

I've never shot porn.  When I did make a living as a photographer it was advertising, model portfolios, events, promotions, etc.  I've been approached twice (by well-known providers) to shoot what I now consider very softcore porn but really wasn't interested, and anyway, the money they offered pretty much sucked.  Right now I don't accept assignments (and no one's asked lately either) but if I were approached by the right publication to do the right work, I might consider it.

I have nothing against porn except that it looks horribly boring to shoot and I'm not in this for the boredom.

(Note:  Melvin and I do NOT agree on the definition of "porn.")

By shoot porn do you mean we are 'IN' it or take the pictures???  LOL

I shoot what the Model wants.  I've been asked to shoot some pretty kinky stuff.  I tell them I'll shoot it but it doesn't mean I'll post it.  They are OK with that. It's always been solo or G/G.  I have a guy sent me some pictures of his wife and wanted me to shoot some of her. Why he couldn't, I didn't understand. What he sent me were technically good.  He didn't like my rates, I didn't like his wife.  LOL

nobody seems to agree on the definition of pornography, which is what makes threads like this so pointless.  until people can climb over their moral dilemas, porn will remain the elephant under the rug...except at my place, where it sits in the living room of its own accord.

It has nothing to do with trust issues... But I need to set an example for my daughter. It is something that I morally don't agree with and if it is something that I don't want my daughter to do... how can I say no if I shoot it. I will look like a hypocrite.

BTW... What is the purpose of porn?

I would echo Melvin in that some people might consdier what I shoot porn, but I don't.
I don't do pinks or spreads for my own work, tho I have some shot some at the request of clients.
I draw the line as direct genital contact with the hands, mouth, other genitals, toys, etc.
I've been offered lucrative jobs twice that would've gone over my lines, even tho the jobs would've been lucrative.
In the case of one, a couple wanted a series of pictures involving a mix of bondage, canings, and a particular sex act.  Not only was I uncomfortable with it, but I felt legal liability if the pictures got out was a real issue.
The other one just sort of grossed me out, plus I didn't know where to find the German Sheperd.

The people in the porn business are not very nice people - understatement.

The ones you see on screen are just people, but the guys behind the scenes are scumbags. You will not like them!

once and NEVER AGAIN!

After that first shoot you will not go back. guarantee!
