All feminist indignation and claptrap aside it would probably be a good idea to actually read the original post.

Some points that for some reason seemingly must be swept aside are -

The photographer is not the one who instigated the interaction.
The photographer who has nudes in his port is sent an email containing nudes from a model asking to work together.

I really don't see how this is so hard to understand.  Someone who comes to me for a paying job does not dictate what the duties of that job will be.  If you know what I am hiring for, why on earth would you want to be hired if you don't want to do what the job entails?

I don't call my electerician to come out and fix a plugged drain.  And then get pissy with him to boot when he won't and wants to know why I wasted his time.

It comes down to  models who think they have more rights than the rights that come in the normal business world.  That or they think they are doing some kind of missionary work by modeling and accepting pay for it.

Or as someone put it -

Saying one thing and acting in another is at the very least dishonesty in my book.

Here in the 21st century, where women are striving for a level playing field, to be taken seriously, to be treated as equals, no, to be treated exactly the same as men.  Yet we fall back to the 50's demanding the gender specific perks and exceptions of yesterday.

Someone asks you to pose nude and you don't want to - say no thanks.
Someone wants to pay me to photograph them - I say whatever you want - up to my limit.  You want bondage photos, no thanks find someone else.
You want me to hire you and pay you to photograph you.  My rules, you get to know them up front and say pass or play, but my rules.

You pay - your rules.  I pay - my rules.  We both pay, or nobody pays - our rules.

You want to play little sexist manipulation games, save them for the bar after work.

Gotta stop playing games people.

This is so ridiculous.  The only important and relevant responses to the ORIGINAL posting have been stated.

1) They mean "I'll pose nude when I want to, but not with you."

2) Model's don't OWE you anything based on what they may or may not already have in their port.

All the other side comments analogies and arguments presented are off base and venturing off topic.

Sure it might be a misnomer of sorts to state plainly "I don't do nudes" when there's nudes already in a person's port.  However, is it really that difficult to understand that most likely they left out the word 'anymore'?  Sure they could say "I do nudes selectively, and that would be perfectly stated.  But come one man, act like you have half a brain.  Regardless of how it's stated, you know what they mean, and if they're WANT to do them with you, they will.  Sounds like a whole lotta people are catching feelings over the fact that a model won't do nudes with them specifically, in which case my only response can be... step your game up.   lol

wow.  "i pay, i own your ass"  LOL  i see that's worked wonders for you so far...

maybe if some of you photographers wouldn't treat models like prostitutes "i pay i own your ass"

then some models would think you actually respected them...and then maybe they'll respect you as a photographer...do you see where this is going?

and i do find it disturbing that some of you guys get pissed when a model, who has nudes in her port, says "i don't do nudes"  so what?!?

or maybe it's just an ego thing?  like she posed nude for some other dude and now won't do it for you?  like she's obligated?!?

Holy cow, threads like this make me glad I only do porn, where everything is upfront and this kind of nonsense dosen't ever happen.  I really don't know how the rest of you get anything accomplished with flakes who think it's their right to say one thing and do another while actually meaning something else.

Sheesh.

I have run into the same situation..where on their profile they say no nudes but I ended up doing nudes. I dont assume anything before a shoot, but I can tell you that minds do change once they are comfortable with the situation. Firstly I respect wishes and am flattered when they express that they have no problem doing partial or full nudes. Many models that will do nudes choose  not to post this on their profiles, but rather save that decision when they shoot. At the same time the photographer must understand dont expect nudes because she has shown some on her profile...

I feel your pain....

This is very similar to my recent MM forum post of models asking for work then not responding to emails?!

WHAT GIVES?!

For those that say...."No nudes!" yet have nudes in their portfolio.....I recommend that you elect to post other images.... ones consistent with the type of work you are looking for in a photo shoot.  THAT won't cause any confusion.

If they do....we might be the fools for wanting to use these models.  They are obviously flakes!

I had an hour long chat session with a model yesterday.  I asked her if she wanted to shoot today.  She said YES but only if it was a paid shoot.  It was!  I spent an hour showing her sample ideas for the shoot, discussing location, time frame, set-up, etc. THEN she proceeds to tell me that she has already taken Mon. and Tues. off from work and promised them that she would be at work today and that she probably should go to work instead.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

Ugh!  Just be honest or not misleading.....that's all.  Simple common sense......

bottom line a model will shoot anything she wants with you, as long as she WANTS to.  matters not what images she has up already.  it's just that simple.

Okay minor soapbox rant comming up. Why do I keep getting models that email me wanting to work with me or profiles from OMP that clearly state "I will not do any nude or implied nude photos" And then there emails and profiles are covered with full nude or partial nude images? Isn't that kind of like running a car for sale ad for a Ford when it is really a Chevy? So my question is if you don't do it why promote it and how did you get the pics in the first place? Okay sorry about that I will get off the rant soapbox now.

I have a port on OMP and don't list that I do nudes.  The reason being that co workers found that site and I had to take that down in fear of losing my "day job".  That is why I use a psudonym for my ports that have nude shots.

Spoken from the heart...our blog comments will stay online forever...heaven help any of the MM'ers (us) who speak their minds, then look for a corporate gig...on the other hand, I have my own company...life's good.
