The watermark: I tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to anything I am selling as a print, or on shots with commercial potential. I know of more than one company that trolls the internet for images to use commercially, without permission or compensation.
A watermark that can be easily cropped out kind of defeats that purpose.
I know center-of-the-image watermarks are a rarity on the net, but that fact works to my advantage in terms of being a deterrent to image theft. Not visually ideal, but better for me, in the long run.
