Inevitable.

There will still be models and photographers.
There will even be DSLRs for a good while yet.

Just a hobby for me anyway...

The word copyright seems to be missing from that advert.

AI image generators do not grant copyright, only usage rights. Even more relevant, the US Copyright Agency recently ruled that AI generated images do not qualify for copyright protection.

As long as some people enjoy posing and others enjoy shooting, there will be models and photographers.

Will they be able to make a living at it anymore? Debatable.

So if I use an AI generated "model" and composite it into one of my copyrightable images, I wonder how that will be treated by the Copyright Office, and how the judicial system would handle it should I get into a legal fracas.

Tough, but maybe exciting, times ahead.

They may well just sell the software with a license meaning companies would have an endless supply of model pictures. To me the way to tackle this is to attack the angle of providing impossible unachievable goals because if the models aren't even real they will be damaging to people because it provides role models that don't even exist.

Perhaps the way ahead is to sell the aspect of flawed models: the human qualities. Favour models with scars or flaws.

as a photographer ironically i actually find ai generated tools fantastic.  for me it helps me visualize what i would like to do.  i do NOT think (anytime soon anyways) that ai will replace actual models.  for example runway models just cant yet be replaced by ai lol.   and a lot of companies still prefer a physical human being to interact with as a model or would be model who is intimidated by this

dont be.   for me generating ai images just inspires me of what i want to do in real life with the right connections (its been tough as i have a disability) but hopefully NOT replace it lol

i dont think ai will destroy real models nor will it destroy real art /photography (in FACT photoshop just added ai tools to its beta which i think is great. im having fun taking actual photos i have done and editing them with ai in cool ways)

ai can also be great for education, research , visual conception. etc  . for me the ai generated images i made when i finally do connect with a model or would be model and want to do a photoshoot i can show them exactly what i have in mind :-) (i have done real images too. all of my images in my profile are real not ai lol)

but yeah. i think people fear often what they dont understand so
dont be afraid of ai!

Every AI image I see, of models, is easily identifiable. It isn't good enough YET, to fool me.

Messing around with ChatGPT and AI images, I notice more than a few 'tells.'  I think the models and photographers are safe for a bit longer.

Besides, I like people more than computers, most of the time.
