Wow. Looks like there are a lot of people talented in both ways.
What I have noticed, level of their work as model is always in sync with their photographer's work. I wonder how they manage to maintain both at the same level

Because! Any photographer who thinks they are attractive enough to be a model is obviously an egotistical nimrod. I mean, just because they shoot pictures OF beautiful people doesn't qualify them to BE one.

No. No. No. People need to be models OR photographers. Anyone who thinks they are both is either an ugly model or a talentless photographer. Seriously, don't trust them. They are all hacks.

Well, Tiana started out as a model and she had used the knowledge she gained from years in front of the camera to become a first rate photographer.  I think that she must have many insights about how to best capture a model's personality that most photographers don't, since her work is really exceptional.  Just check it out:
http://www.tiamodel.com/portfolio.php?pc=10

And Tiana isn't paying me - I just think she's really great.

You, Sir, are a total whack job.

If you want to be talentless, ugly and one-dimensional, please speak for yourself. Most people can walk and chew gum at the same time.

As far as the egotistical nimrod stuff goes, you are obviously projecting. If you have the wherewithal, look it up.

Acutally, I think its pretty self explanatory. Many (not all) of them began as models and learned their craft first, and then progressed into photography. Its a perfectly logical progression, and can really boost both sides of the equation. The model side knows how to pose for the camera, so when they get to the other side they know better how to set up a model to look good. The photography side understands what goes into composing a good shot and capturing the right look, so as a result when they're back to modeling they better understand how to create that for any photographer. Each one plays into the skills of the other.

My port is full of self portraits right now, simply because i have a passion for both photography and modelling, and by using myself as a model i can do exactly the image i had in mind...

Kassandra Leigh is also a good example of a successful self-portrait model: #3245

Agreed. But I now start wondering what are the stories of those who started as a photographer and became a model. Have they re-discovered their own look and appeal wink ?

I should ask my friend ...
