This thread is interesting.  It started out with a request to see other's "Lolita" images.  Obviously, the word "Lolita" means many things to many people.  To some it is any image of an adult woman dressed as a young girl and posed in a sexually charged position.  To others, it is about trying to capture the idealized image of Lolita that Humbert had when he first saw her in Nabokov's novel.  Some posters have shown very innocent images of adolescent girls.  To them, Lolita may simply be any young adolescent teen.  To others, the word Lolita is obviously a hot button synonymous with child abuse & Pedophilia.

The guy on page three has some pretty innocent looking photos there.  A couple may not be in the best taste, but they do not cross the line, imho.  Do you know how old the model is?  I don't.

Any model on MM, regardless of age, who gets propositioned by another MM member for anything sexual in nature should contact the moderators immediately.  It is a violation of MM rules, not to mention being a type of behaviour unwelcome here - rules or no rules.  Although a few may do as you said, they are in the minority here.  I stand by my statement.  Myspace and the teen chat rooms is a richer hunting ground for those types of predators.  That's why the police set up their sting operations there instead of on MM.

Edit:  Maybe the cops should set up a phony model portfolio here and clear out some of the rubbish for Tyler. smile

What makes you think there are no cops here? Think again my friend!

I'm quite certain that there are amateur photographers on here who are police officers in their day job, just as there are doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, and probably even a used car salesman or two. smile

Whether or not there is a sting operation in place, I don't know.  To be an effective sting, no one but the officers involved would know.  Personally, I hope there is one.  I just wish they could set up a sting to clear out some of the GWC creeps too.

I think I took one by accident once.  I was shooting a girl's 10th birthday party and all her friends were dressed up and we did cute shots of the group and the individual girls for their parents.  Everything was innocent, but when I looked through the pictures, there was one girl who had so much ..."knowing" (for lack of a better word)...in her eyes, that even though on the surface it was a totally decent portrait of a little girl, I felt like I was looking at child porn.  It freaked me the hell out.

I meant to mention earlier: If you haven't read the book ("Lolita") and this thread inspires you to, take the trouble to find a copy of Alfred Appel Jr.'s "The Annotated Lolita."  My copy is a 1970 McGraw Hill paperback edition. It may be out of print, but any major library system should be able to get you a copy by inter-library loan, if it's not in the library you go to. The Appel commentary puts many of the issues people are discussing here into a broader context. A really good read.

Colin

EDIT: Just checked. It is still in print and available from the usual sources.

It's been over 30 years since I read Lolita.  This thread has tempted me to reread it, if for no other reason than to be able to debate from a clearer memory of the subject.

I'm not into imagining kids in this way,  unless it's purely theatrical, and explores the passage into adulthood. To me the best looking "Lolita" by far is Liv Tyler in Stealing Beauty, and at least she almost looks old enough to be legal. Probably was?

The character of Lucy was 19 in the movie.  Liv Tyler was 19 at the time.

*shakes head* Even though I'm over 25, I have a woman-child look to me -_-;; Some people say I still look like a kid, so it's a bit unfortunate. Even though Goth or Goth-lolita isn't my thing, I do like the dresses I see in the Japan fashion magazines. The black, white and lacy fashions are quite pretty. I have to agree though, most of the images posted up here weren't "lolita".

Awww how sweet! ^-^ Ok, I'll admit I found a favorite, and one similiar style I saw in my local Kinokuniya bookstore. Hmmmmm, wish it had sleeves, and a matching head dress, but anyway!

awwww, thank you  smile Yes, I know it is not really Lolita that's why I said if it was Lolita-esque smile. I didn't shoot that with a Lolita concept in mind. Perhaps I will undertake that project in the future smile A challenge for sure!

I disagree. There is name involved Lolita and this is for reason. There are bunch of young girls nowdays showing not just skin but everything you can ever imagine and it doesn't touch bit of your soul or feelings.

Lolita is that special personality of a young girl who is yet very young, sensual (not vulgar or "I show you everything" type at all!)  but already very seductive. I think most everybody have met this type in their lives. For me it was one of my classmates. I didn't realize it back then, just had a feeling she was different. Not untill 18sh I read Nabokov's book and it hit me: "It was her!".

It's very rare and special gift or talent to be seductive the way Lolita is

Someone contacted Laia about this topic, saying they thought of her esp. in the context quoted above.

Sorry, but I forgot to add the photos the first time because I had to run out the door.

Laia took those photos above in 2004, when she was 15.  She is 17 now.

I've never really understood "gothic lolita" or the scary (to me) japanese cos-play with the odd banana-curl wigs...but to each their own. Unfortunately I've neither read nor seen either version of the actual Lolita, though I have heard it referenced throughout my life, so I must surely have a distorted, if semi-accurate, view. Kind of reminds me of the movie I did see on that vein called Pretty Baby with Brooke Shields though, am I close? Now, i have no pics to submit 'cause well, I'm just a tad old and not a photographer but I think this is a really interesting topic with a lot of strong opinions.

By the way, many of the women on Cragslist who post ads under escorts are done by me here on the west coast. I have turned away a few ladies who did not want to show IDs and I try not to make them look like little girls.. Asian women are tough!!!!

Thank you - somebody who posted some Gothic Lolita!  I hate having the name of my favorite fashion being associated with the Lolita talked about in this thread but, there isn't a lot we can do about it.  Thanks for posting your lovely image!

These were shot as she was yelling over to her mom after she just did summersaults for about 50 yards straight and later adjusting her ponytail. A lot of people read a lot more into these images.

Thanks. I still can`t see why I got hell from people over the icecream shot. The things the people read into it -shakes head in disbelief-

I have a couple others I will be posting once I find them. The two girls are Russian and sisters.

These are Russian sisters. 14 and 11. Shot the same day.I know the hair doesn`t match but the oldests hair is orange because she did a Vidal Sasson hair show the night before. Neither one had one pose or expression suggested by me. I let them pose and make expressions as they wanted. I also caught some hell from people who saw these images and others from the shoot. Mom as well as Grandma were there standing right by me the whole time and I tell ya there`s not much that is more unnerving than an old non-english speaking Russian grandma staring at you for two hours, lol.Mom was great though.
