Why is it that alot of models think its hot to be like 100 pounds and 5'8?
Honestly i think it look kinda ewww when you see ribs. I'm not jelous just want to know what people see in women this skinny.

i prefer 5'10"+
but seriously, this has been covered a zillion times - samples are made to fit that body type, they're easy to see from the runway, etc.

Many models don't think its "hot"... that's just the way their body was made, and how their metabolism works. I've been 5'9" and 115lbs since i was 16, and no matter what i eat or how i work out, I stay the same.
I'm comfortable with myself. Period. It's not about thinking it's hot.

I guess i have explained that wrong. What i meant was, why do so many othe rpeople find it "hot". I know models are made that way, i used to be 5'7 and 80 pounds about 3 months before i gto pregnant. I am glad i gained weight, fianlly. I just want to know why women my size have more trouble just because were"thick".

It's just ignorance. It pisses me off because I was at one time told a milion times that I should eat more and now my daughter, who by the way inherited my genes, is going through the same.

As far as runway goes, the clothes only (usually) fit that body type (tall, and thin). I guess it depends on what market you're trying to get into.

You're back and forth here. Skinny girls are runway models because that is the body type preferred for the clothing. Not because people find it hot.

Funny how people have insisted on making this non-issue an issue.
(And for fashion work, which is my primary metier, I shoot tall, skinny girls with a basically fashion editorial look. I hope this doesn't offend, but if it does, um, sorry...)

What changed in your local market that makes it easer for you to get modeling work?

If you really want to get work as a model you need to stop whining and take a good hard look at who are the successful models on MM.
You still have snapshots up, you still have images that have your children in your portfolio, you are still losing the baby weight, you are still over 20, you are still under 5â9â, You still have piercing & scars, you still donât work nudeâ¦.
What have you done to market yourself?

As strange as it may sound, I am not even checking your profile, but this post of yours gives me the (prejudiced!) impression that you are a model with a fuller figure (weight problems?) who is seeking approval for her size and over-exaggerates her negative idea of slender models.
Is this one of those skinny-models-bashing-threads?

Here's the thing: it's really uncool to start a thread using words like "ewww" to talk about a large segment of the community you're trying to be a part of. Someone did it awhile ago on a thread bashing fat models, and it was really hurtful. Can you see how the same kind of speech about slender models is equally hurtful to them?
I really wish we could talk about size acceptance without resorting to negativity about those with different body types.

I'm comfortable with myself. Period. It's not about thinking it's hot. same here, my body is just that way, i don't follow any diets or over-excersice just so i stay in this shape- i've been like that for a while, and I think it will always be like this- which i'm happy with

What I see in a skinny fashion model is someone that a fashion client may want to book to sell a fashion magazine or a designer's fall collection. I see in an average-sized model with great teeth someone that a commercial client will want to sell toothpaste on tv. I see in a model with big boobs and lots of curves someone that Maxim magazine may want to book. A person's personal taste has no bearing in a forum on the fashion industry.

I'm 6'3" and have a 29" waist.
It really bothers me when i see these threads. People always seem to think it's ok to say it's gross or disgusting for a model to be too thin, yet if there was a thread bashing fat models, the local thread police would be on it like white on rice.

Funny, now that I'm getting gigs for catalogue shoots that are requesting fuller size models I'm having a hard time finding models with a little meat on them who don't look hideous. Yes, hideous is the word I'm using here. I see attractive fuller size women all the time but when I do a casting call what I get are women who have some sort of axe to grind at the industry who really aren't that attractive to begin with and then you add their awful personality and....well... I'd rather slit my own throat before working with them. Then there's the rolls of fat, the piercings, the gross tattoos that are near impossible to cover up - a requirement for the Asian market I work with - and then the personalities.
Bear in mind that I've HIRED these 'models' to work with and, save but for one, they've uniformly had severe problems that interfered with or required the cancellation of a shoot. Jobs are hard enough for ME to come by without having to mess with some self-proclaimed diva screwing up an expensive location shoot.
There, you wanted to rant and you did. Now you know what it's like on my side of the camera.

Ford has an excellent plus size division. It's not about the size (except for height, you can't get around that one...unless it's the petite division, and that's 5'6" to 5'8" and you can't be a petite AND plus), it's about the presentation of the size.
The high (or higher, meaning reputable and not some porno-incarnation) fashion industry wants a clean canvas to work with. Piercings, tattoos, poor skin, scars, all of these lessen your chances of getting professional work.
