"cutsey" referral to natural areas of the body. As though these were something not quite decent to talk about. (little boys sniggling in a corner, girls in another corner)

If you must ... how about "private areas"?

maybe just me being picky or pedantic ...

I make it a general rule to never photograph people with private parts.

I think in referring to naughty bits, people know exactly what you're talking about.  The bits forbidden from publication in the US.  It's naughty or risque when you show them, it's media acceptable when you don't.  Private areas could be more ambiguous.  I think my butt is definitely a private area as there ain't no one but my boyfriend and my doctor going to see it, but I don't think anyone would call it a "naughty bit."  I think it's just a universally understood term that keeps you from having to list off what all of the naughty bits actually are.

And isn't "private area" still just a stupid name so that you don't actually have to name those private areas?

sounds fine to me!  or, to 'cover' the whole area: "pubic area", even.
also: "breasts" works .

I don't think most people really consider breasts to be that naughty anymore.

Because unless there is a speculum in the shot as well, it is highly unlikely that there is a vagina in the shot. Maybe genitalia would be more accurate and not gender specific?? I find naughty bits to be an amusing description, but then again, I like Monty Python.

yes, "private areas" is somewhat a stupid name .... but at least that does not have the connotation of something not polite to refer to. public attitude both determines language usage as well as follows from the usage.

see linguistics ...
at one time "ass" was acceptable to say in polite company; then it drifted into "not polite", and instead people used "arse".
later ... "arse" became disreputable to say, and "ass" was redeemed as proper again.

Perhaps naughty means naughty.  Some people have bits that are naughty.

Is it possible to have false naught bits on your chest?  If they are enlarged via surgery?  Does that no longer make them bits?

It is a bit...does that mean it seperated itself from a larger part thus leaving a bit?

Naughty bits was in python.  Groovy.  I've only been saying it since i saw it in

Evangelion a few years ago.   Haven't had that many chances to see the flying circus this decade

Not angry at all....I think it is cute.  I have always loved British expressions.
My comment in the other threat was not related to the "bit" part...it was related to the "naughty" phrase
