I am prepared to take an ass whipping for this thread or be ignored...so here it goes...
This is pretty sad...the more I read these forums...the more it appears to me that there is a war between SOME photographers and models...when did that happened? SOME photographers bitch bitch bitch about models and then models turn around and do the same...my question is...didn't you know that by picking up a camera and wanting to take pics that at some point you were going to be working WITH a model? Same questions for the disgrunted models...We all have rules...so I want to get paid for my work! So he doesn't want you to bring an escort! If your work practices are different or interfere with the others believe...VERY POLITE AND NICE...move on!!! There are a million models and a million photographers...BUT PLEASE!!!! Keep it professional...do not tarnish your reputation or someone elses reputation because you had 3 incidents...or 5....or whatever...the point is...that shouldn't determine the rest of your experiences...
Ok my cheap 2 cents are in...smile

I only get into fights with other photographers, never models, well just that one but I learned a great lesson there. This is the internet and most on here don't even have a career in modeling or photography. I read some of the shit some of the photographers here say about models and their view of models and I can't believe they actualy find models to work with them. Models are not clothes hangers or pieces of meat.
My wife is a model and my niece as well I believe my daughter will be as well and I screen every photographer they have contact with. Some of that screening is by what I read in the forums on their view of a model and her place in the team. The other part is your portfolio, Bio, and client list if you have one. This models are just there for "us " to shoot and should do as they are told attitude is bullshit.

You have pointed out a very real dynamic here at MM.  Too much us against them

But that's the nature of things.  People will always look for ways to feel "different" or "better."  Between photographers there are the artsier-that-thou, the fashionably talented, and everything in between.  Among models there are similar categories.  Models who've been on MM for a while will eat you alive if you just put up a profile because they assume you just started modeling or some such nonsense.  It would be nice if people would respect each others difference just a little more and take the edge off a bit, but many of them don't know any other way.

I don't appreciate it when MODELS to try to bring thought, respect, and reasoning to other models and photographers.  I THRIVE on their conflict because it makes ME look better.

So for you models and photographers out there, don't listen to her!!  Keep FIGHTING!!  When a photographer doesn't give you your pics and yells at you for bringing an escort, you OUT HIM!!  OUT HIM right here on MM!!!  And for you photogs, when a model brings an escort and eats all your chips and soda (or beer) and she refuses to show you her nipples, OUT HER right here on MM!!!  You should NOT go unnoticed as the unprofessional tards that you are!  WE NEED TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!  We WANT to know who you are!

So please, pretty please, do NOT listen to Svetlana!

I skim through these forums sometimes, looking for something useful or entertaining. Once or twice I may have been fortunate in being able to answer a question or provide some direction, or just entertainment. And I admit, I take time to read some of the exchanges between people who seem to be very tense.

It makes me wonder, how do they have the time to do this? Spend so much effort on what strikes me as counter-productive exchanges.

I get up in the morning, bust my butt all day, and lay down tired at the end, knowing I didn't begin to do all I want to, or even needed to. Certainly some people will be disappointed because I didn't complete something for them. And for me, it means even more work to do tomorrow! I'll bet that you, gentle reader, often share that situation.

And I sometimes regret the few moments used here reading posts, maybe making one, or looking at portfolios. (Well, honestly, I don't regret that last one. I LOVE looking at all your portfolios! So many wonderful images, so many beautiful models! It is worth the time.)

I just can't figure out how they get all their work done, and have time for these little wars, too. And I wonder maybe what more they could do, if they put that stuff behind them.

If we're doing analogies.. My favorite has always been:

In the real world is someone shits in the pool, everyone races to get out.

On the internet if someone shits in the pool, everyone races to be the first to dive in.

I was always told if you have nothing nice to say don't say it at all.  If a person has to wait until your gone to get snotty its tells alot about them.  They don't have heart to tell you to your face, and or write you privately regarding the problem they may have.  (Model, Photographer).  I really think these forums are funny, and entertaining, but sometimes people go over the edge with their postings.  I get along with everyone, and hope no one has a problem with me on this site.  If so I would like them to address me personally not in a forum posting.  Afterall there are alot of jealous, envious, hateful people in this world.  Thats life.....We were born in a world of sin.  (Smile) it will make you all feel better.

It is entertaining!  We sure get to know each other by what we write, but some members of this community do take it too seriously.  It's those few that are trolls, fakes, and just plain trouble makers that can cause the most damage .. but it's not that bad here .. is it?

I totally agree with you on everything stated above.  Its not that bad here....It just the crazy, and funny postings that people list in the forums.. I laugh, but most of the time I just keep my mouth shut, and read what others have to say.  I was always taught to do more listening than talking you will find out all the info you need to know about the other person.  How true is this?   LMAO

I think the important thing to remember here is that everyone-model or photographer, has their own ideas of what's good and what isn't. Photography and modeling, for the matter is an ART. If everyone did the same thing, it would be pretty damned boring.

I think instead of picking someone apart, maybe you should study their work. Pick out what you like or don't like and then use that for your own personal reference. But bashing people is just really quite silly. There is a such thing as "constructive criticism" that can be accomplished without outright telling someone that they suck. Each and every person has their own style and technique. A little rule bending doesn't make someone a bad model or photographer, it just makes them different. God forbid we colour out of the lines!

Just imagine if no models showed up to be photographed....

Then just imagine if the photographer forgot to show up.....

Hmmmm

If we were all so perfect imagine what it would be like if every model looked exactly the same and every photographer took exactly the same photos.

Before you cast the 1st stone...How perfect are you?

I just had my 2nd part of a modeling shoot to be with 8 models and numerous Harley's. They all committed to me. Only one model showed up. And no bikes. After I spent weeks organizing it, sending out reminders, even the last week before and then the day before. Maybe it was the moon. Maybe the photo gods. Maybe it is time I take a shower....Oh no. I knew that I forgot something. Geez.

Guess what we had a great time and those that did not show, well we'll do it another day.

If I spend my time wasted on "Why things went wrong" I would be just as bad as them. And who knows they may have had a good excuse. A bad tummy ache, PMS, my bikes was out of gas, duh, my bike was reposessed by the bank, my mother borrowed my bike again. Oh no, she had a sex change. Damn bad timing.

I love working with models and I don't let the ones that don't show, don't call to cancel, bother me. I just smile and think of how much I enjoy working with the models who do show up, who do love working with me, the ones who tell other models of me, those who post wonderful things about me on their profiles. And if I can make a model happy with photos that she loves and tells and tells about it I feel I did my job.

Smile....you could be on camera

Oh and I spend hours looking at the work of other photographers. I am honored to be among so many great photogaphers and hey not all of them are great, some are beginners, some still learning. Oh and then there are the jerks, the perverts, that give us a bad name. But, all and all I am happy to see that there are so many good people out there, photographers and models.

Very smart post, especially for someone so young smile.

Sometimes I think the posts are replacements for the fights they used to have as kids with their big brother or little sister.

I admit it can be easy to be drawn in, when the attacks are way off base, but I try to bite my tonuge until the urge to reply passes.

BTW You have a very nice port.

Thank you all for the comments that are relevant and thank you all for the comments that add humor to this...sometimes a little smile can make all the difference. I posted this because lately I took a little time to read these forums and it's pretty sad what some people say to one another. I know that in the real world conflict is as much as a reality as everything else....but when I began modeling the model and photographer were partners in the project. Regardless of who was getting financially compensated...because from a good photo shoot both parties will always benefit. Now I guess I am "HIRED to WORK FOR" such and such photographer or vice-versa...There are very UNPROFESSIONAL people out there. On both "sides"...do not let an encounter with one of these people determine your behavior torwards everyone else...(sorry for my mispelling or sentences with the wrong context. As you can read on my profile I have been in the USA for only 4 years and didn't know a lick of english...so I think I've come a long way...so I don't know if it's waiste or waste...FYI...smile)
