What does your avatar do for you?
All these recent posts about images in peoples port and who your fave artist is... I have one. I've been browsing through looking at ports based on the avatar.... The next person who posts - look at my port and tell me which image YOU would choose for my avatar and why. Which image would draw YOU into my port. Then the next poster do the same for that person. Etc. I think it would be interesting to see what others feel is the strongest image in your port. Sep 28 06 12:00 pm Link Probably: Avatar's need to be eye catching, but due to the size they need to be not overly complex.. Too much detail turns into a confusing mess.. Your current avatar.. The facial shadows are interesting, but at that size I can't really make out the subject because of all the harsh contrasts.. Headshots or clean, uncluttered body shots with simple backgrounds often work well.. Sep 28 06 12:03 pm Link WG...your avatar can say a lot about personality/humanity in general. If I were to pick a different one, I like the one with yellow flowers (mysterious) and the one below it (classically intriguing). Sep 28 06 12:12 pm Link I think WG has picked a wonderful image for his avatar. And it definitely follows the guidelines he mentioned. The eye in the shadows keeps you in the image. Of course, I really like images that show off the eyes. Sep 28 06 12:12 pm Link W.G. (But I am very flattered.) Sep 28 06 12:14 pm Link cobra id say either the one your using right now which is really nice, or the third pic in the top row of your port, the blueish silver hue to the photo is really eye catching Sep 28 06 12:17 pm Link W.G. That's my fave going by gut reaction. Sep 28 06 01:03 pm Link Danny, I would make the woman in the frilly skirt with her back turned to the camera your avi. This was a difficult pick because you seem to have so much to say with your work... It runs from a stinging solemness to a brilliant humor. You truely have a gift for addressing mood and tone, and it kills me that I had to just pick one. Sep 28 06 01:38 pm Link I would choose this one... it pulls me and makes me wonder. It makes me want to see more of what is going on. Of course, almost all of your images do that for me. I love to see images that look intriguing and and make me want a closer look. Sep 28 06 01:46 pm Link I think I'd go with this one: You managed to find a ballet dancer to go on point for you in a giant, custom-looking cage. How cool is that? It immediately makes me want to see what else you've done. Sep 28 06 01:52 pm Link This one...the hand draws you in. *didn't get my post up fast enough.... Sep 28 06 03:21 pm Link #9....love the red...brightest, nicest pick in portfolio Sep 28 06 03:24 pm Link My avatar speaks for me. I feel is shows my true personality. Silent, Mysterious, striking. All the things I try to represent in real life... just personified Sep 28 06 03:32 pm Link Ryoga Vee wrote: Looking thru Ryoga vee port I think this is the only image that would draw attention to him. Its a great image and I love the whole look and feel to it. Sep 28 06 03:42 pm Link e-string wrote: The one of you looking out the window would make me go look.. in fact.. the first time I saw your portfolio it was because of that image. Sep 28 06 04:20 pm Link GRHorn wrote: The point of an avatar(here) is to get people interested enough to actually take the time to look at your profile. If it's interesting and shows some skill/depth, then people will want to go look because there's a better chance that it won't be a complete waste of time. Sep 28 06 04:40 pm Link how did i get stiffed on this? Ryoga Vee...you supposed to comment on the person above you, then hope for a lovely response after you....models... Demarcus...your's is perfect (show's high fashion, show's you work w/ M and F)...that or number 4 w/ all the red is my fave! Sep 28 06 04:54 pm Link Georges S, I would choose the eyes above the water shot. It is very unique. Colorful, and she looks like she's up to something. Water reflections are a bit noticeable, but the overall photo would draw me in to see what else you've got. Sep 28 06 05:13 pm Link George S. I think these images have more impact: https://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=1120695 https://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=766155 You have a very interesting cropping style, I might add. In a good way, that is. I already know what people are going to tell me about which photo my avatar should be. Damn, I have to change it occasionally... Sep 28 06 05:14 pm Link Georges S wrote: Ummm- what he said? Sep 28 06 05:19 pm Link Hey!! I got skipped!! lol Mr. Bowman, I would go with https://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=329955 It has mystery in the lighting, the bra peeking out. Just gives you a hint and makes you want to see more. Sep 28 06 05:21 pm Link . Sep 28 06 05:30 pm Link GRHorn wrote: I disagree - I think your avatar needs to be something that draws people into your portfolio. I don't care what the photographer looks like, it's her/his talant that I'm interested in. Sep 28 06 05:39 pm Link I got skipped again. Sep 28 06 05:42 pm Link Hayden: I think that the image you have up draws me in EVERY time I see it. The other that I would say would be this one: Sep 28 06 05:44 pm Link And again!!!! LOL Sep 28 06 05:47 pm Link Edman Photography wrote: Hmm. I had a hard time choosing because the blur on all of your images bothers me... Sep 28 06 05:47 pm Link Hey there, I already know about the blur. I've been given several comments on it. I had a really cheap camera that always looked grainy, so I'd blur and diffuse like crazy. Now I've got a good DSLR and some good lenses as well, and am getting much better shots. The one you chose was one of the new ones. But it was done in High Key. Anyhow I appreciate your input and I'll be putting up several of my newer shots in the next couple of days. Thanks again, Bryan Sep 28 06 05:54 pm Link Jay Bowman wrote: i think its the one you used to have up, #16, with the heel. although i'd throw in a vote for #2, it has just as much mystery, but overall, i'd say #16 or #1 are the most eye catching shots. #1 has great color saturation to it. Sep 28 06 06:01 pm Link Just wanted to say that you all have some great images up. I've been browsing for awhile now, and there are some really amazing shots here. Lot's of talent. Sep 28 06 06:13 pm Link Kam Photography wrote: HA!!! I knew it! The shot with the heel is everyone's favorite, by far. I change it so people won't become desensitized to seeing it or something. It's coming back around in the rotation shortly, though... Sep 28 06 06:17 pm Link Mr. Bowman - I, too, like the shot w/ the heel the best. This is a fun game! Sep 28 06 08:58 pm Link |
