Sep 23 06 01:16 am Link Sep 23 06 01:17 am Link I bought a nice Bogen tripod/head combo on Ebay, for 65 bucks...after watching auctions for a couple of weeks, waiting for the right one that no one had noticed or really bid on. Then the seller suddenly discovered that he had previously sold it, or couldn't find it, or some such nonsense (when he realized that he was losing a good bit of money). He sent my money back with 5 dollars extra...but I am still pissed about that one. I guess that was the best deal I almost got. Sep 23 06 01:26 am Link Star wrote: How the HELL did you do that?!! I used to deal in Lionel Railroad Collectibles. Bought a complete layout for $850 and parlayed that into almost $6,000 after selling it off piece by piece. On another occasion a guy stopped in my studio because I kept a sign in one window that I bought old toy trains. He had a old "military" tin type train in original box with tracks and transfomer he wanted to sell. I didn't deal in that manufacturers models, they were not Lionel. He offered them to me for $40 so I bought them anyway. The very next issue of Model Toy Trains featured the exact train I had just bought on their cover. The value of the set was listed at almost $500. I had just made a profit of $460 overnight.
