AS a photographer have you ever felt so frustrated by a models attitude or behavior that you have felt like handing her the camera and saying - take your own damn pictures

But of course if she /he has pissed you off this much you probably woulnt be handing over an expensive camera  -

I guess the old saying goes... you get what you pay for :-D

Seriously though. No. Anyone I've ever shot free or paid has been cool except one girl who just flat out dropped off the face of the earth for the 2nd day of a paid 2 day shoot with 2 other girls. I should have expected it though when she showed up on the first day over an hour late with all her wardrobe in a *hefty garbage bag* :-D

No joke.

A few times and they were both sent home immediately.
It's one thing to act out to me and it's another to act out to those I love and trust to work with a model such as my MUA's or stylists. You mess with my crew and you are done.
If it's a paid commercial shoot I make sure my friends know what happened. Here it's not allowed to name names but in the real world when money is on the line you better believe word gets around and quick. One agency dumped a model I kicked out even before I got to see them the next day to show them the few images we shot.
Agencies or not I do not think twice about kicking someone out. My crews know me and we would just wrap up and have drinks earlier than planned anyway.
I am sorry you experienced such unprofessional behavior. We are photographers looking to get a job done...not coddlers, yes men or psychiatrists..... no matter how hot he/she is or who is paying. Well that's just my way of looking at it......

I have gotten the "bad vibe" a couple times.  The moment I meet a model, i can feel it will be a bad shoot.

YES!
I have gotten that creep out feeling with a photographer before and the images show it. When they pressure you into trying things you don't do or just too touchy (because they are holding the camera they feel they can arrange your parts in a startling way! its like woah! ask first buddy, those are mine!). I was so uncomfortable one time I had to leave. I was very frank with the photographer and said that I thought we should stop for now and reconnect when we discuss what we both want in a shoot in more detail. I don't think anyone should ever be rude or disrespectful. It is just a comfort level that has to swing both ways in order to get the great shots! Just my two cents! smile

I had one of those who saw a photo in a mag, and started to tell me how to light it. All she could remember it was lit from the back, you know , from the back.

No other description. Did she have a photo, NO.

When I told her I dont copy other people's photos she got angry and left.

Had one treat me like a GWC last week, it got her no useable images . The rest of the models made out ok. Sometimes you just have to let the camera say it for you. Oh shyte the lens cap was on??

Actually, no.  The nice thing about what i do [and the way i do it] is that people that work with me, want exactly what I do, and trust me 100% to give them something special.  That's why I never chase clients or paid jobs, because once you get into that you end up doing what other people [who are often dumb] want you to.

Twice I've had shoots start really badly -- to the point I thought we were going to have to cancel. One turned out OK, the other turned out to be one of my best shoots ever.

No...but a shoot to me is like sex, with one photographer I could feel awesome about the shoot, or I could be quite disapointed....so I dont really demand things during shoots...Im not that agressive in that sense...

Must be nice but I have to pay the bills and sometimes you get the shit sometimes you get the sandwhich. Your lucky in that you can just create your artwork and not worry about the bills. When I went out on my own it took ten years to get that great feeling of being createive again. best to you.

I know I have pissed off photographers to that point......but does it count if it at a shootout???

Actually I use my limited knowage of photogarphy as a litmus test. If photographer listens to what I say and do he is just a newbie and wants to learn, if he gets huffy he well.....the term GWC comes to mind but hey we are all perves underneith  it is just that some are better at hiding it than others.

I have them take photos of themselves all the time. It keeps them busy while I'm running their escort's bodies through the chipper.

Is a good thing you feel that way because I have the distinct impression as long as you keep your nose in the air like that you'll be the only one willing to take your pictures.

If I'm shooting I'm always happy, and there's no way to mess with my head so much to end the shooting. Probably I'm lucky and well, I don't shoot that much to encounter those type of models.
If a shoot will end, it won't be called off by me, but certainly from the model.

Put you in tears? What's wrong with that? My question would be, how do you collect enough tears to be able to put somebody in them!?

What if he just nods and smiles and keeps doing what he's doing?  Because that's what I usually do.  When a model starts trying to tell me how to run my gig, I assume they a]have a certain agenda that the don't want to tell me upfront and want to "charm" me into, b]dated a photographer once and want me to know they're as smart as i am or c]can't believe that a guy with five plastic cameras could actually know what he's doing.

It dosen't happen often, but when it does, i just let whatever the model's saying become part of the background noise.  That's one of the reasons I like to have music playing during the shoot -- i can start singing along and drown the model right out.

"Lucky" dosen't enter into it -- It's just a question of priorities.  I know people who make a lot of money from photography -- who hate taking photographs now, who only take photographs when they "have" to.  I simply decided that I'd rather work a day job and stay in love with photography than see it as something i "have" to do.

I've been known to offer information to photographers who haven't shot fat people before, in case it's something they don't know or might want to put to use.  I also always make sure they know that I'm not telling them what to do - just sharing info that they're free to disregard.  These days I mostly shoot with very experienced photographers, and I trust their handling of my image, whether or not they pay attention to a word I say.  wink

On the flip side, have you ever shot a model who gave you endless gratitude. Like emailed every day for two weeks just to thank for the time and effort.
I wish a few more were like that.

Yes I have gotten frustrated and with regards to behavior I say this.  Wanting good images is not bad behavior.  Remember, the model needs to get good images as well.

The models has a right to expect good images and he/she has a right to express their opinion when it comes to how THEY look.  But when a model acts like a spoiled little child, then I pull the plug on the shoot and call it a day!

Never had it happen to me doing a photo shoot.  My mainstream indie films, yes.  And I usually just blow the actor or actress off and tell them how it's going to be done.  I stopped compromising my vision quite a few years ago, thank you.
