Seriously though. No. Anyone I've ever shot free or paid has been cool except one girl who just flat out dropped off the face of the earth for the 2nd day of a paid 2 day shoot with 2 other girls. I should have expected it though when she showed up on the first day over an hour late with all her wardrobe in a *hefty garbage bag* :-D

It's one thing to act out to me and it's another to act out to those I love and trust to work with a model such as my MUA's or stylists. You mess with my crew and you are done.
If it's a paid commercial shoot I make sure my friends know what happened. Here it's not allowed to name names but in the real world when money is on the line you better believe word gets around and quick. One agency dumped a model I kicked out even before I got to see them the next day to show them the few images we shot.
Agencies or not I do not think twice about kicking someone out. My crews know me and we would just wrap up and have drinks earlier than planned anyway.
I am sorry you experienced such unprofessional behavior. We are photographers looking to get a job done...not coddlers, yes men or psychiatrists..... no matter how hot he/she is or who is paying. Well that's just my way of looking at it......

Personally Ive not ( yet ) had a shoot where I felt this way bout a model . But someday ?

YES!
I have gotten that creep out feeling with a photographer before and the images show it. When they pressure you into trying things you don't do or just too touchy (because they are holding the camera they feel they can arrange your parts in a startling way! its like woah! ask first buddy, those are mine!). I was so uncomfortable one time I had to leave. I was very frank with the photographer and said that I thought we should stop for now and reconnect when we discuss what we both want in a shoot in more detail. I don't think anyone should ever be rude or disrespectful. It is just a comfort level that has to swing both ways in order to get the great shots! Just my two cents!

Twice I've had shoots start really badly -- to the point I thought we were going to have to cancel. One turned out OK, the other turned out to be one of my best shoots ever.

No...but a shoot to me is like sex, with one photographer I could feel awesome about the shoot, or I could be quite disapointed....so I dont really demand things during shoots...Im not that agressive in that sense...

Must be nice but I have to pay the bills and sometimes you get the shit sometimes you get the sandwhich. Your lucky in that you can just create your artwork and not worry about the bills. When I went out on my own it took ten years to get that great feeling of being createive again. best to you.

Yes! I had a photographer put me in tears in one of my first ever shoots. He was horrible. Made me stop shooting for months!

What if he just nods and smiles and keeps doing what he's doing?  Because that's what I usually do.  When a model starts trying to tell me how to run my gig, I assume they a]have a certain agenda that the don't want to tell me upfront and want to "charm" me into, b]dated a photographer once and want me to know they're as smart as i am or c]can't believe that a guy with five plastic cameras could actually know what he's doing.

It dosen't happen often, but when it does, i just let whatever the model's saying become part of the background noise.  That's one of the reasons I like to have music playing during the shoot -- i can start singing along and drown the model right out.

"Lucky" dosen't enter into it -- It's just a question of priorities.  I know people who make a lot of money from photography -- who hate taking photographs now, who only take photographs when they "have" to.  I simply decided that I'd rather work a day job and stay in love with photography than see it as something i "have" to do.
