I just worked with a photographer who is obsessed with copyrighting everything to death; including his work.  I did my modeling work..like his work..but could you get anymore Anal about results?

I don't see why this is a problem. Maybe I don't understand your question.

There is an old saying, "A liberal is a conservative who has never been mugged."

I was once not very anal about copyrights.

Then a big company stole one of my copyrighted photos and sold it in a book. I sued them for thousands of dollars and won.

I was a liberal. I got mugged. Now I'm a LOT more conservative and I have become VERY anal about copyrights. Because I know from firsthand experience that maintaining and fighting for your copyrights can have a BIG payoff if someone tries to screw you over.

sarah, if he is a commercial photographer, not doing this for a hobby , he intends to market them.
maybe has has had his photographs stolen  in the past.

maybe he thinks that you are commercially viable and that your pics will sell.

If you paid him, the the pics would be yours and you could do what you please.

It's only because it's become all too easy to steal images...Right click any image on this site then select "copy"...guess what - it's your image now...

Do you mean that he is witholding your photos from you until they are copyrighted?

One time I was working at the Kinko's printing large format color and the Regional Manager said "Put that printer out on the floor where the public can see it printing." I guess he was just following orders from on high to create buzz about our new goodies. So this doctor comes in and wants these medical slides enlarged to 18 inches square, four of them. They were close ups for a presentation on Anal Polyps!! I printed them and when my Manager walked in he almost burst a blood vessel!! True story. And that's how anal it can really get out there.

Sarah -- I saw your other thread (which will be locked soon) and what you need to do is rewrite your question so we know what you're asking. To be blunt (and honest) your question and responses make no sense, which is why you're not getting any advice. We have no idea what you're asking. What happened? What's the situation? A photographer has every right to copyright his or her work as they own all the copyrights to begin with. Did you not receive payment or images for your time?

If you can be more clear in what you're writing we'd be quite happy to help you out.

I don't know is on third?

I'm also confused by this thread.
Who paid whom?  What was the agreement before the shoot?
WHY are all the 'clarification' posts one-liners and more cryptic than the last?  tongue
I always say, 'the key to good story telling is in the details' ... ok, maybe the key is embellishment.

Nonetheless, help us help you!
