I still don't get it...that's like building a store just like Toys R Us and calling it Toys Are Us.  Isn't that horribly illegal?

Cute, not only did they steal from MM and MP but they never bothered doing a search for those words in the content.

They didn't even edit out Tyler's name in the FAQ section (http://www.modeltag.com/faq.php):

"Why don't the http://modeltag.com/shortname URLs work anymore?
At some point, the internal auto redirection stopped working. Tyler has been notified and we hope he is looking into it. In the meantime, please use the following type of link instead ("www" is optional): http://www.modeltag.com/member.php?id=YOUR_ID_HERE"

I thought the Indian technicians would be more careful when stealing.

Well maybe Tyler (or more likely his lawyer) can make a few bucks in the lawsuit with a few screenshots.

Well it seems like they steal images as well as sites..talk about non~creative.. I knew that image looked familiar. I am glad that the model and photographer have been notified.

Woohoo! A fast new database server has been put online to keep Modelplace as fast as it can possibly be. Its built to be super reliable and in general just help us out with all the growth we are seeing. You guys rock!

Clearly says Modelplace;
http://www.modeltag.com/rules.php

These rules apply to every area of ModelMayhem.com (forums, shout box, comments, messages, etc).

[1] Absolutely NO FLAMING OR NAME CALLING. Mutual respect and civilized conversation is the required norm. Please keep profanity and gratuitously inflammatory language to a minimum. Personal attacks will not be tolerated on ModelMayhem.com.

[2] NO SPAM. Spamming unsolicited advertisements anywhere on ModelMayhem.com will get you banned.

and elsewhere...

Maybe Tyler should consider encrypting the souce code

Wow.

HA!  I mean, seriously.  If you like an idea and want to emulate it, at least turn it into something of your own...and REALLY make sure you at least change the names if you're just going to copy and paste.  wink  That's a big pile of morons over there.

I can see people wanting to imitate a place like MM, it has grown really popular and is a strong community...but imitating, and straight out plagiarizing are two different things.  If there is any legal ground for Tyler to sue these people, I hope he does it!  Same with the people whose images were used without permission.  That's a load of malarky.  BAH!

ModelPlace was created IRRC by banned ex members of Model Mayhem.

So, ModelTag is stealing from Model Mayhem and from a MM clone.

Someone is running in circles here.

Since Tyler coded most of MM by hand, he certainly has a hefty lawsuit for copyright infringements at hand. Even text like the rules and FAQ's were developed by MM and it's moderators and is original work as well.

I say: Screenshots!

Note where it says his ID#?  It says "Mayhem #47".  wink  They didn't even clean up the code enough to keep Mayem's name off of everyone's individual page.  Nice work, dumbasses...take a bow...

I can see why it would be affordable since they steal it but they lost me on the personalized.

You don't see the personalization?  Really?  Jeez, it's RIGHT THERE!  In all it's BRIGHT BLUE HORRIBLENESS!  That header is...wow, what's the word for it?  Crap?  Hideous?  Something a 4 year old could do with MS Paint?

I wish ALL websites were so greatly personalized!!

What I find interesting about this is ModelPlace claims to have been online long before Model Mayhem. If Tyler coded most of Model Mayhem by hand I wonder if he'd have a suite against Modelplace as well...

I wonder if I've joined yet... I have to go take a look but I don't think the browse function works. You can't do a search by state. I mean, really, if you're going to copy something at least make it work!

It appears to be 20,
But I can't really say.
The code is screwed up enough that the profile can't be set up.
Mandatory fields are missing.

So I don't see how any of the profiles that are active could have been set up by any one short of an administrator.
Which would seem to indicate that some or all of the existing ports are questionable at best.
