What does being a Hooters girl mean? In my couple of years of internetworking I have seen a lot of models list in their credits that they were/are a Hooters girl. Does Hooters pay tuition to model school for its employees? Has anyone ever been impressed by seeing Hooters girl on a models resume? Anyone have any experiences pro or con that were a direct influence of someone being a Hooters girl.
My apologies if offending anyone and for any ignorance I have on the subject. It is a pet-peeve of mine I suppose.

i think the whole model resume thing is kinda silly...

who cares what your hobbies are and where you placed in your class...

i care how well you contribute to an image..

a models portfolio is the only resume she needs...

as far as i am concerned...

Hi there, I use to be a Hooters girl! And yes you have to be maintained and trained to the point that it is like beauty school! HAHA! You do promotional work, calendars, bikini contests! Everything that a model does except you are more famously known I guess. It's a shallow place to work don't get me wrong but these girls are pretty and would definitely make good models! Just my opinion! smile Good question by the way!

On February 6th, the Hooters Casino opened in Las Vegas.
I finally wandered into the place in May, expecting to see wall to wall hardbodies... staff and customer alike.

I was highly disappointed.  Some of the dealers even looked like me!!!

I don't understand your peeve.  The Hooter's Girls I've worked with knew how to stick out their chests and look sexy.  They knew how to flash a smile that didn't look like a pained grimace.  They were comfortable showing cleavage and letting their nipples poke through.  You may not value those as skills, but I've also worked with girls who were afraid to look sexy for anyone other than their boyfriends.  There are a lot of jobs in life that teach valuable skills you can't learn at Robert Powers.  Hurray for the "Hooter's Girls" of the world!

Some are impressed by it, yes. In my State, there's a local radio station whoes AM affiliate does the coverage for major league games from the local Hooters. One of the waitresses who was very knowledable about sports became pretty involved, and eventually she was able to parlay it into a regular job on the statewide sindicated FM morning show. Now that she's on, she is very popular because she can effectively speak on the stuff that many guys only dream of women even having a passing intrest in (ie: Sports, Hunting, Fishing, Poker) She is very nice, very pretty, and yes has nice hooters. She had zero broadcast education or background before, yet she does the job great. However there's no denying she would have never landed it without being at Hooters first....

Yup... The ones I've worked with really knew how to work it. Hell it mean extra tips while at the resturant. However, I'm not really into the Hooters scene. My 14 and 16 year old sons love to go though. smile

It's a crystal-clear statement that the model knows how to make an IN-YOUR-FACE presentation that's not x-rated.  She may be lots of things, but BORING won't be one of them.

I'll sign a Hooters alumna in a heartbeat.

Anybody heard of Hooters Air? They were a brief presence at the Rockford airport...I think most people here just travel to travel, though! A casino? What's next, a club and a magazine with "hooties hotties" like the playboy bunnies/playmates? I'm laughing.

There IS a HOOTERS magazine! Seems like they're trying to brand it like Playboy.

you laugh i'll fly!

one of the girls i met on my course was a hooters girl (a-level contemporary dance and ballet including choreography and theory - as in biology health and nutrition)

These girls have it going on and make more money in a night in tips then i did in a week at a high class overpriced seafood restaurant wearing black black black and a smile with hair in a loose pony.

I've eaten at Hooters 6 times in my life. I've been to the one in Minneapolis, Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, and Nashville. Everywhere I go whether it be a Hooters or a walk down the street, I always have an eye available for someone who I think would be a great subject. Someone who would inspire me. Someone who carries themselves in a unique way. Never once have I seen someone at a Hooters who appeared to carry themselves in a way that I found attractive let alone someone I would want to photograph.
Maybe it is the tacky as can be outfits that they all wear. It is like a blinder to anything original.
Maybe it is the fact that my interests in photography are not for glamour, fashion, sports or anything else that a Hooters girl was molded to be.
Never the less, between MM and OMP and any other acronym we can come up with, I see a lot of girls who hold the label of Hooters girl in high regards but cannot hold a candle to someone who just naturally has what it takes. Hooters does not make someone successful. It might open up opportunities but so does MM. It is who a person is that will determine how they make those opportunities successful.

It means they worked at Hooters. It's like models that don't do TFP's and have  modeling schools on resumes. Same principles.

To the best of my knowledge I never have. If I have ever worked with someone who was a Hooters girl they never had the need to make a point of it. I've never been impressed by "Hooters Girl" on any models profile (great average or poor).
I got an understanding of how it might help an aspiring model in some areas both before and after starting this thread.
I just want to know at this point if that is something that some photographers do find works to their advantage. Has a photographer ever had to stop and say "Damn, I cannot believe that searching for Hooters girls has finally paid off for me."

I mean, look, exactly six month ago today my mother passed away from cancer. It was that event that compelled me to start being creative again. gave me drive to pick up a camera after 2 years of not really doing much. I don't list that on my resume or credits.
Hooters is just a job. I can list jobs on my resume. I can list the job I have right now as being beneficial to photography because I can sit here all day and post threads on MM and my job has nothing to do with photography.
I just fail to see it as a credit or as a level of success. If it made you a better person by working there then it made you a better person.
It is just something that I don't see the need to flaunt.

I'm with you Things... I don't get it either.  All the girls I know that work their put on this "Yah, I'm a Hooter's girl face" and then when their shift is over, they complain about smelling like greasy chicken, the long hours, the tips (that ARE NOT that great), the stupid outfits, the harrasment...  I'm starting to believe that either they HAVE to say they love working there or they think other people are impressed by it...lol

The fact that the model was a Hooters girl means a few things to a cliant. First it means they have promotional skills. And they are attractive not just the girl nextdoor. They also are not camera shy and most likely have some kind of posing skills.

If your looking for a job anything that can help should be on the resume.

Hey Travis... did you know that Hooter's girls CAN NOT be seen in their uniforms ANY WHERE outside of Hooters resturant or a Hooter's function?  She could be fired, fined, and sued.  I think the penalty for being photographed is like $10-15,000... for wearing your chicken uniform in a picture.

seriously some of the UK hooters girls have got it going on. they make great tips and its a lot less sleazy then people imagine. i don't eat or work there (shy retiring vegi) but you know i met girls that do. and they were great dancers, actresses and models as well as more often then not intellectuals paying for uni (or college as you'd call it)

I dunno...since Ker's Winghouse opened in Daytona Beach, the quality of the Hooters girls has been going down hill, fast.

Besides, the wings at Winghouse are better...but that's another thread, right?

No Len Cook, As you said, it is my opinion.
The only people who ever seem to mistake my opinion as an issue of right or wrong are those that find it contrary to their own opinions.
I never indicated it was more than just my opinion. The idea of the thread was to for me to gain better understanding of the benefits of why this is so paramount in many peoples threads. As I said in the very first posting, I apologize for my ignorance on the matter. I have learned a few reasons how it can be beneficial from this thread. My goal has been achieved. However, it is still of my opinion that it is something that does not neccessarily need to be stated.
Not everyone gets the same benefits of working at Hooters, yet everyone who works at Hooters can say they worked at Hooters. You are not automatically a gifted spokesperson or model by working at Hooters. You need to prove more than that to be successful in anything. It doesn't really set a person apart from the masses and make them stand out above their peers. There are so many people who work at Hooters anyhow that when I see it listed as experience or credit it seems as tacky as the outfits they wear.
I've got the facts and I still have my same opinion.

Hmmm....I have never shot a model who smelled like greasy chicken.

Suddenly I feel so sheltered.

I guess it's where you are that makes a difference......we have a Hooters here in Ocala, Florida.....when it first opened they had a special crew....one of my female friends was on it.....she's the avatar I display.....her and a few others like her just did the opening two weeks....and WoW....did they rake it in......of course they were stunning....BUT..

Now.....Woof, Woof.....a few years later with just local girls working......gets more disappointing every time I go there.....almost all of them wear no makeup what-so-ever......half don't even bother to comb their hair.....and as far as physiques....I don't think the health spas are making any money from them.....

So...what goes....is it just Ocala.....I'm beginning to think so.......this such a backwards place.....just goes to show what happens when you open a Hooters in bible thumping country.
