I'm starting to get tired of people thinking I'm the model on my main picture.  grRRR!

Some guy model requested to be my friend, so I added him to the list.

Then he messages me saying...

"oh my god this picture is so o soso sos fucking hot...come to la and hold me while i fall asleep..

jesus, talk about fucking beauty....

ughhhh come be my girlfriend"

I reply...

"I'm a photographer, not a model. You're gross! lol"

And I delete him as a friend.

OMG!  In general I think men are stupid.  I guess I've worked in a bar too long to think otherwise.

Pinky, your judgement is clouded by your experiences with alcohol laden men lol

Some women arent that bright though either not to sound or start a flame but I did a shoot for a long time friend I hadnt seen in over 7 years he asked me to shoot his girlfriend as she was trying to get into the business so I agreed isnt that what friends are for.

The day of the shoot she walks in, no offense to anyone but I like to be able to get my pictures published she was 5'0" about 200lbs stringy hair and a terrible complexion (acne scars)My first thought was OMG she is going to shatter all of my lenses.  Her first words were i know I am not the best but you can make me look like a supermodel with all the editing equipment right?  I held my tongue and took just a few pics and sent them to my buddy and told him there was no way I could make her look better he understood and said she had unrealistic expectations   then for old times sake i had to chew him out asking what happened to him in the past he wouldnt have been caught dead with someone like her as he was a "player".  He responded she has a good job.....I think most people are idiots to a degree.

i am done with my rant and hope I offended no one as it is a true story. and my opinions.

I go through that crap on myspace if I have a model on my profile.

If they read the word "MALE" and "PHOTOGRAPHY" they might get a clue?

I had one of my model photos as my default originally but then expected what you have described, so changed it. Reminds me of a LJ group I'm on, if the model posts pictures, others trip all over themselves saying OMG UR SO BEYOOTIFUL, but if the photographer does? Not so many comments, unless they are confused like you say and assume it's the model posting. Gah! Must it always degenerate into a meat market?!

As a "generalization" it is true that men are more visually stimulated than women. So it makes sense when men don't read ... LOL!

You are going to find this "hitting on" the models mentality here since it's a natural human instinct to want to have sex. As artistic as a photographer can be, it still boils down to the old saying "Sex sells!" So everywhere on the 'net, you'll find this mentality.

What I find amusing are the female models who get tons of male models on their "friends" list here on ModelMayhem. Again, it goes back to human nature ... but this place is not meant to be a lonely hearts club, right? There are plenty of place online for singles looking ... "heck!" even for people not single.

Nothing against meeting someone here who happens to be a model or photographer that turns into more than a professional relationship, after all I am single! But people who are not in the industry get strange ideas that photographers and models are humping each other while doing photo shoots like ... well you know! LOL

Just because peole CAN read doesn't mean they will. Myspace is intended in part to be a meatmarket dating service, so I expect it there. Hopefully, because this site is more focused, it won't be as much of an issue.

Then there was the time that a couple of fanboys cornered me and a couple of other photographers at a photo event.

"Damn, dude, you shoot the hottest women! Do you ever... um... you know... get any?"

I couldn't resist. "Oh, sure. All the time. In fact, see that model over there? We shot last weekend, and when we were done, she was so horny that she just jumped me before I could even turn off the lights!"

I had them going for a good 10 minutes before I let them off the hook and told them that the model in question was actually my wife. I wouldn't have let them leave without telling them, though, because that's how one gets a bad reputation.

But the 10 minutes that I had 'em going was priceless. Trying to keep the other photographers from cracking up and ruining the joke was half the fun.

Oh wait... here's another of my favorites:

If you're a female, you must be a model. If you're a male you must be a photographer.

Chris, I like your style! You show that you've got a sense of humor, yet your profile shows you know when to take your work serious. I think I would have done the same thing!

Well, modeling is one of the few occupations that women do make more than men.  Many women make great photographers too!

On my Myspace page, I have this disembodied underwater shot of Kym Stys' body. It's an artsy shot that was used for some catalog work. (I love when I can force feed a little creativity to a client.) And I get these, "Baby, your body is bangin!" or "Can I be in charge of your care and grooming?"

Newsflash - my user ID on Myspace is "Brian Photo Gearhead"

Dumbasses.

I have to say that this is highly amusing! I'm glad that models don't read either.. I've had a lot of issues with people asking me what kind of work I do when it's listed, or asking me to do porn when I stated that I don't.  I have also had many people on DA send me notes or emails telling me how they got off on my pictures.  EW!!

I have to be honest, I thought your profile was a model portfolio too... only because I read on there all your interest and stuff and didnt think many photographers would post their interest. I didnt read the part where it said you are a photographer though lol.

The failure to read is an epidemic -- that, coupled with the reality that there are just a lot of dingbats out there.  My profile makes an emphatically clear statement that I'm seeking models for artistic nudes, yet, just last week, a model (who shall remain nameless) sent me an email stating, "I'd really love to do a shoot with you!  I don't have to take my clothes off, do I?"  DUH???

LOL.  I admit, sometimes I get lazy and just skim things, but usually I read the important parts.  Yes, desperate is a good word.  Desperate to jack off to my pictures.  LOL

As I've suggested more than once, the profile page should include work interests for both models and photographers just as it's done on MuseCube and OMP.

oh I have had worse. Some quite disgusting. But none from MM. They came from myspace where all the pervs are. Some idiot sent me an e-mail saying I hope you dont mind me jerking of to your photo but I think you so hot ah ya that felt good. I have had at least 5 others saying oh your so hot, come check out my pics, you know you want my hot meat injection. I got so sick of it I put up a blog saying do me a favor and at least read the first two lines of the profile. MALE, PHOTOGRAPHER!!!!   If you send me a request of friendship without telling me why you are here I will delete you. I am glad I havent had to deal with this stupidity on MM.
