May 23 06 11:23 pm Link Whatever you're interested in, be it goth, fashion, bikini, etc., it's probably best to just focus on that one style. If you really want to go goth but you have lots of general fashion or glamour, you will find that people expect you to go in that direction, rather than the direction that you are interested. And it's really hard to change gears once you get into it... So, the best thing you can do is find good photographers who shoot the exact style you want and approach them. Anyways, hope this helps... Antonio May 23 06 11:27 pm Link Check out wickedtalent.com They should have more info. May 23 06 11:29 pm Link Hang around a Hot Topic. Be popular AND make money. I personally think it's one of the hardest to get into and stay. Or pin up....::shkes fist:: freakin masumi max....I envy! May 26 06 03:33 pm Link Pixie: It's important to know if you want to be goth or fetish. Most people can't tell the difference, but in general if you get tied up or wear latex its fetish not Goth. I've shot a number of goth models - I'm shooting a goth fashion show tomorrow night - and making money doing goth is hard. If you aren't in it to make money but to create art there are a couple of ways I see. Find a goth clothing designer and volunteer to model thier clothes. You'll need a good portfolio. This can get you into Gothic Beauty. Find gothic photographers - that's a crappy name, but I shoot goth a lot and am not goth. These are people who like to shoot images with a "paint it black" twist. Offer to model for them. If you do want latex and ropes, that's a question someone else will have to answer for you Ron May 26 06 04:10 pm Link Well, you could go to the goth group shoot in Ohio on June 10th. Speaking of tongue-in-cheek, read the Voltaire book about goth first, so you can be absolutely certain you've got your stereotypes straight. Seriously though, goth really has become a series of stereotypes (this from someone who perhaps missed the sack of Rome, but not by much, I still have my original tee-shirt from the March 1981 Bauhaus show). I struggle a bit with the concept of buying pre-packaged revolution off the shelf at Hot Topic, which is after all a big corporation. Still, there's not necessarily anything wrong with stereotypes as long as you're conscious of them, it's possible to turn it into a dark circle turned back on itself and play on a pastiche of the stereotype. But if anyone wants to delve deeper into the long history of the gothic imagination (no kiddies, goth was not invented in 1990... that's just when the marketing guys got their hands on it), try to track down a copy of the Richard Davenport-Hines book "Gothic: Fout Hundred Years of Excess, Horror, and Ruin" from North Point Press, which covers everything from architecture to film to literature. There I go, trying to get people to think again. May 26 06 04:27 pm Link Merlinpix wrote: Just because people wear black clothing there doesn't mean it's Goth! The Goth capital of the US is Oregon!
