I am looking to re-invest, what monitor are you currently using?

If you could buy another, what would you prefer?

I have a acer 22" widescreen and a hanns-g on the desk with the spyder2 for calibrating.  I use the acer the most, its a little brighter, but I need to make sure to keep that in mind.

24" Eizo ColorEdge CE240W
12" Wacom Cintique

I've only had both of these for roughly a year so I wont be upgrading any time soon but if I could, I'd probably get one of the CG series of Eizo's and a larger Cintique; or the next generation Cintique... whenever that is.

La Cie monitor and I love it ... in the next few years I might look into an Eizo. Until then, this is working good for me.

I would love to get my hands on the New Cintiques, I will probably invest in one next.

You must have a blast with yours!

How does calibrating that differ from a regular monitor, if any way at all? I would guess none since it does act like a regular monitor as well.

currently using a Samsung SyncMaster 204B, but I really miss my 22" Viewsonic CRT. That thing was a monster in terms of deskspace, but I find LCDs don't really show gradation as well (unless maybe you buy one of the spendy ones, I haven't tried them). My next mon will be another Sammy, though.

Yeah working on a Cintique is a blast! It really speeds up the workflow when doing any touch-ups and painting. It also works especially well for Corel Painter.

I don't know if it's really necessary to calibrate the Cintique but I do it any way. Since the Eizo is more color accurate,I use that for any color judgements and when I'm softproofing, I turn off the Cintique so it wont throw off color perception.

As for differences when calibrating, the only thing I can think of is that the two monitors have a few different controls. The Eizo has more controls but the Cintique's controls are easier to get to. If you get an Eizo, avoid using the Spyder3 on 64 bit systems.

On a budget, you can look at the 20" Dell 2007FP.

Why??

1. Height adjustable stand AND ROTATES 90degrees.
This is a great feature for working on Portrait images.

2. It ships most of the time with an S-IPS panel. 178 viewing angles needed for photo work. (BUT: Dell ships the same model with lame TN panels sometimes. if that happens return it) I got 3 of them and they're all S-IPS and kick ass.

3. 1600x1200 resolution. 3:4 aspect.
Gives you a little more vertical space than a 22".

Currently it's only $309

My laptop monitor. It's on one of the top end Sony Vaios, and is one of the best monitors I have used. Occaisionally, I'll use a NEC SpectraView 2690, which is even better, but not by much - I mainly just use it because it is bigger, and is connected to a machine which is very fast.

I am a model but I take photos too. I am currently using a Samsung 305T+ (30" PVI). It has been a great investment and is wonderful for editing.

My other monitor is a HP LP2475w (24" IPS). I like to have a few displays on hand so I can see what images look like on different monitors.

I would also recommend a Spyder 3 Pro for calibration.

NOTHING like an APPLE CINEMA DISPLAY. I have had it over a year...and it is amazing. 30" of pure pixel perfection.

I found one used and saved some money. Then I added apple care to extend the warranty...so if ANYTHING happens or goes bad (not likely) I get a free replacement!
