I'm in the process of searching for a web designer for my photography business and it feels like I'm shooting in the dark...no pun intended!
If you have a web site now, what would you do different if youhad to do it all over again?
Thanks for your help!

My high school friend, Frances, helped me with my website. It's not a very complicated set up-- I like it. Her contact info is on my website, www.studiomona.com  (webmaster link.) She lives in Sweden. We did all communications via email and she won't accept any payment from me. But she does offer discounts. just mention my name to her LOL. wink Good luck!

Ember Harker at Creative Metaphor did mine.

Actually she did the uploading and putting together of a template I picked up.

You can see her work at www.crphotography.com and her link is in the privacy policy.

I built my own.  I used to freelance but it always ended up being more stress than it was worth, regardless of how much I charged.  These days, I send any requests over to my awesome designer friend, Fes.

Mine is being redesigned and rebuilt.......

It was originally done by my assistant when I worked in ATL; now it's being done by a professional graphic-design team. It will be quite nice when it's done.

We're supposed to go live this Wednesday- time will tell. And yes, I will be posting the link on my MM port.....

I did my own, but it's not been updated in quite awhile. You can see it here, but it's not much to look at -- it's become rather bloated from neglect.

http://www.axolotyl-studios.com

I'm also changing the name of my business to simply "Pat Thielen Photography" and I'll be building a new website to reflect that.

One question I have: How difficult is it to create a site that has the uploading and resizing of images to galleries, like the way Model Mayhem works? I'd really like a site where I could delete old images and upload new ones without having to do all the work on my PC; MM has spoiled me. Do any of you know of any Dream Weaver plugins or templates that would do this? I'm guessing I'm asking way too much, though!

I did my own with MS FrontPage.  http://paulsportraits.com.  It's not the fanciest but it has a lot of info on it and it's really fast, even for folks with dial-up.

I don't have a modeling-related website of my own (yet), but I do my own web design: http://www.mokuzen.net/

It's what I do at my day job, but I'll do freelance, too, and my rates are totally reasonable.

I did my own, but my career is web site/application development (and has been since the year Microsoft launched their first web site).

http://www.tallent.us/

Photography is the hobby that gets me away from programming, and, unlike 10 years ago. As a result, I don't particularly enjoy spending my free time piddling around on my own site, and I no longer do web design work on the side. I just keep it tidy, fast, and working well in both Firefox (my browser) and Internet Explorer (for less evolved Internet users).

I also host my web site over my cable modem connection at home. It's not blazingly fast, but I don't have to synchronize files by FTP, and my photo gallery code pulls, resizes, and watermarks the photos *directly* from final JPEGs sitting in my Finished folders.

I did my own using nothing but Photoshop and Media Lab's Sitegrinder which turns Photoshop layers into a website. Great program.

I'm Blessed that my sweety of 7 yrs is my webdesigner (we reside together) and we worked endless hours building my UNIQUE website, so much a renowned NYC salon copied her format (i know coping is a form of flattery, but I don't think so).

Her name is Brenda and her website is www.Mireku.com and I wouldn't change a thing about my site.

I had LOTS of input, yes orange is my favorite color and Brenda (i know it's sounding bias) but she's the best webdesigner for ME b/c she's PROFESSIONAL, THOROUGH and AMAZINGLY CREATIVE and patient (you know how us artist can be at times)...

Brenda is a student at AI (Art Institute of NYC) and she's receiving her degree in Interactive Media Design.

She gives phone consultations and proposal, will tell you the best hosting server to use, she guides you through the new journey.

She delivered my vision fully and for that, I'm so THANKFUL !!!!

Dreamweaver. I spent a lot of time with the manual which sucks, but that's probably just me because I hate manuals. I learned more by working the program until I got it down, and it has everything I need to take my work to the web. Now all my webwork is my own. http:/www.girlfair.com

Me too. I did it professionally until I became ill. Now I do it as a hobby or as a fun thing to keep me occupied mentally. I'm designing the site I'm co-owner of with Safira Angel. I've done a ton of CSS styles (all the styles on www.frozen-o.com) and my husband not only is a lead developer/designer for a company IBM just purchased, but also is writing a book on advanced AJAX.

I started design in '96. So...actually this week it's officially ten years I've done design. I'm a firm believer in CSS (it's a good way of being able to change the look and feel of your site with very little work and having the same look and feel through the entire site which is very important for higher quality). I'm also anti-flash for photographer's sites. I just learned a new trick to help keep images so that even if people can keep them on their computer they can't print them so I'm excited.

I would plan on starting over at least three times until I get it right (which I did) - jaydezelic.com Other than that, I think I will use a better looking model next time smile

It's always fun to post 1dpi images online, and see what happens when people try to print them.
