That you have come across while browsing the internet...(please link if it is 18+) that has caught your attention.

I have been looking at guy bourdin photos lately. This is one of his fashion photos.

kinda disturbing - the fashion is lost amid the social questions.

I thinkI should suspend my critical eye and look at the image.
nah! the boy seems placed in shot after.

As I said, something about it caught my eye....But then there is the question of, is it possible to suspend the societal eye?

There is also something in terms of blocking out the shapes, just compositionally, that is interesting about the photo, and the way the wave works in the background. but yes, the only black things are the boy and the shadow of the mountain, on opposing corners, but there is nothing wrong with being that dark.

The question is, was it always disturbing? Guy Bourdin is kind of known for disturbing work...is this one of the reasons why?

What we do , we forget to leave work behind and look at an image. When I used to paint I used to get really close to the paintings in the gallery to see the directions of the brush strokes thus losing the meaning of the image.
But technically, I am looking at the light on the models legs and none on the boy and can see the the boy was placed  there after. there is not the same tone and  light distribution across the model to the boy.

But it hits close to home. See I am not an impartial obsever, I worked on the beach through my youth catering to demanding tourists.

But the juxtaposition forces you to stop and stare,  and that is the point.

This would be quite interesting if you could not see the handlebars.

For anyone who did not see Randall Slavin's editorial with Charlize Theron in Flaunt, this was a whole spread that I thought was just freaking awesome (sorry for taking up so much space but I really loved this because usually celebrities are shown so glam, and Charlize is so cool for going all-out with the acting for this set):

i post a few of these photographers images here (in no particular order) that I was able to easily find online (there are others, of course) and don't abuse the worksafe concept
