Big Butt Backlash?
I couldn't resist the chance for some alliteration. With all the posts here about this topic, I thought I'd pose a question to all you backside experts, models and photographers alike. It seems to me that the current fascination with big butts has just about plateaued. Where else can it go from here? The market is already inundated with zaftig models showing off their derrières, and my guess is that most of them are barely breaking even. (The market can only sustain so many Buffies and Melyssa Fords at one time.) The envelope has been pushed just about as far as it can without becoming downright obscene (what's beyond the thong except the crack of someone's ass). So the question is, given that historically speaking a loosening on sexual mores in our society rarely reverses itself (e.g., once the hem of the skirt goes up, it rarely comes back down), what's to become of this obsession with backsides? Will it: A) Plateau sometime in the very near future with the current state of affairs being the status quo for the next five years or so? B) Will it get worse, with ever more risque websites featuring booty models popping up on the internet and even more successful Buffie the Bodies to come? or C) Will it actually reverse and return to where it was in the late nineties, when a big booty in a thong was still fairly uncommon to behold in a nationwide magazine or even on the internet.
