Are under aged models allowed to be in underwear?
I've seen alot of peoples shots with underages models and the tabu if a bra strap is exposed and etc. But then underwear advitisements? And I swear that on the first season of project runway they let one of the models that was 16 walk down the runway in a thong. So does anyone know the restrictions? or is it just no sexual relations? Mar 03 06 07:39 pm Link Personally I avoid it Mar 03 06 09:28 pm Link Oh, yes! Anyone can be in underwer at any age. In fact, I reccomend it. Mar 03 06 09:49 pm Link Katherine Heigl did a long scene in a thong bikini in her first movie. She was about 15. Milla Jovovich did full frontal nudity in Return to The Blue Lagoon, at 15. Victoria's Secret has used runway models in their mid-teens. Mar 03 06 09:59 pm Link Gabriel wrote: this has been beaten to death in other threads. Mar 03 06 10:13 pm Link This is something...i dont know....i personally dont think teens should be in any type of modeling where sex could be provocted or push to create an image...i am worried about all these teens gettin persuaded by sex among themselves....so its like when they see a boy/girl their age acting and or modeling for roles are inappropriate under mine eyes...they think tht it is cool to be that way...teens and children are very impressionable...so no i dont thing teens should be shot in anything inappropriate for a child under 18 years old...just worried about our future Mar 03 06 10:16 pm Link CristinaLex wrote: Teens don't need to be "persuaded by sex", the hormones do it by itself. Mar 03 06 10:19 pm Link CristinaLex wrote: Being worried about MY future, I don't shoot models under 18 at all. The law is one thing. The angry Dad with a tire iron is something else. Who needs it! Mar 03 06 10:24 pm Link CristinaLex wrote: Excuse me, obscene? Have you seen Return to the Blue Lagoon? Which part of it was "obscene"? ..my lil cuzzin is preganant because of the influence of images of young people on t.v and in ads...OH GOD especially these lil pop artist talking bout "im in love with a stripper"..lol.... Your cousin is pregnant because of the irresponsible actions of two young persons. Don't blame others irrelevant people. The only people one can blame are their parents for not giving them proper sex education or teaching them actions cause long-term consequences. I grew up with all the ads and sexy movies, too, I didn't get any girl pregnant (as far as I know! ) Mar 03 06 11:24 pm Link I stay away from that issue....completely. Given the Justice Dept's "Secret War" on 'offensive' images, you're playing Texas Hold 'Em everytime you take a picture that is even slightly provocative of anyone underage....and the flop doesn't look too good. That's really high definition, if impregnation can occur just because of images on TV and in ads. Mar 04 06 12:03 am Link But what happens when the 15 Y/O poses in a provocative manner and her Mom is standing besides the photographer encouraging her?? I make a rule to stay away from anyone under 18, but I was invited to a shoot out with other photographers and multiple models in a public location (beach). The 'children' (15 & 17) had parents present, but the one Model was doing provocative poses for most of the shoot. Mar 04 06 12:06 am Link Michael Rothman wrote: At least she was under supervision. Why would a minor in underwear be illegal ? Jesus christ get a clue. Mar 04 06 12:11 am Link lll wrote: Yes and it is scaring me...these gurls dont look like teens n e more they look like educated young porn stars...lol...excuse me...tiny tops..little shorts...barely there skirts... Mar 04 06 12:11 am Link Feffing No! People get scary and change their minds later. No skin, boudoir glamour shots for anyone under 18 period! Shit happens! Mar 04 06 12:23 am Link JC wrote: Yep....color me pussy. (Without the need for a lawyer) Mar 04 06 12:27 am Link LOL ok so Adriana Lima wasn't 17 when she started with Victorias Secret ? Brooke Shields didn't model in her panties for Calvin Klien when she was a minor? Jesus people, learn the business, the REAL bix not this pretend internet world where EVERYONE AND ANYONE can call themselves a model or photographer without having a clue. Mar 04 06 12:30 am Link - If they couldn't, how would we see kids modeling in underwear in a department store catalogs or ads? Not sure the OP is being completely clear about the sort of photography he is asking about. - In the US, nudity is *not* automatically afoul of the law, but neither is nudity a *requirement* for breaking the law. Court cases like US v. Knox, US v. Amirault, and US v. Dost are important reads if you are considering working with a minor. Even clothed, posing, expression, setting, and other factors might affect whether the photo is considered "sexual activity" or "lascivious exhibition." - I may be working with a young male model this weekend (13), but it is a hassle. I have to use different contracts, have parent there for the shoot, etc. And, obviously, nothing even approaching illegality. But I don't make a habit of working with minors--I can get better shots and repeat business from someone mature enough to be serious about their modeling (not that a minor can't be serious, there are some on this board that prove it, it's just that they are few and far between and I don't have the energy to sort them out of the bunch). Mar 04 06 12:31 am Link Truth is, it's ok for a young girl to wear the underwear, it's only the photog, and her parents who will possibly go to prison, or at least face and have to pay for the trial. The state and federal laws covering exploitation of minors, stat rape and work permits make it very hard to take pics: and if they are at all sexy, forget it- even fully clothed- you are in trouble. Yah, I'm a pussy- and not an idiot. I also let little girls be little girls. I got better things to do. Yah. Mar 04 06 12:32 am Link Michael I hope your better things to do is LEARN the real world of this biz. You won't go anywhere bigtime with that attitude. Mar 04 06 12:34 am Link and how is photographing a minor a reason to go to prison ? Did you read my example ? Adriana Lima was 17 when she started with Victorias Secret, ummm I didn't see anyone go to jail for photographing her. IDIOT. Mar 04 06 12:37 am Link A bra strap showing, such as one of those t shirt material type tops girls where with spaghetti straps, or a sheer blouse with a matching color blouse, used to and may still be part of a certain style. I do not know why but I have had more than a couple models mention this to me. I see it as annoying, and something I want to not have shown in those instances or have to edit out instead of seeing it as some sort of silly style, or even taboo. Mar 04 06 12:43 am Link JC wrote: Yes all true. Can't argue that. Of course that was before The Bush Administration, Ashcroft, 2257 and other examples of collective hypersenstivity. Mar 04 06 12:45 am Link its just sick if any one says that it is ok for a under 18 teen model should model under wear...why do u need to see what it looks like on thier bums...by a damn pack..take it home and see if it fits ur kid...there are enough perverts and or petophils out here and we need not encourage it... SO YEA I AM A PUSSY TOO>...even thougnh i am not a photographer..... And that is just saying how sick the biz can be if adriane lima was a 17 year old lingerie model......just my 2ccceeennntttsss Mar 04 06 12:45 am Link No. They must go commando until they are 18. It's a sick society that even needs to ask this question. Mar 04 06 12:49 am Link how is it sick to see a minor in underwear ? OMG You people are so conservative. Mar 04 06 12:55 am Link The younger the better in the fashion world......your career is over at 25 in most cases. (Sure there are exceptions). I am a bitter old hag and my time is almost up and I HATE IT!
