who here prefers fetish work?
i luv it...for one it's in my nature, for two i love the resulting images. i think the hottest photos around are fetish shots. Just hearing the comments from some people like oh that guy is one of those fetish guys one of those pervs. Just because he happens to like latex outfits on his models. But I for one thinks to be an artest you have to have an open mind. I do think however that there are a quite a few photogs out there who seem to take "reader's wives" type shoots and call them fetish photos. I've seen some pretty sub-standard work masquerading as fetish photography in my time, when it was clearly an excuse for the photographer to take some porn shots to thwap to!! I think that because of the amount of porn on the net and situations like I mentioned. it means that it kinda tars a lot of alternative/fet photographers with the same brush. Now I'm by no means asking for it to be universally acceptable because then it would lose that air of taboo which makes it so popular. BUT I do wish that some people would be more understanding sometimes. For example, the naked pregnancy shoot I did got me into all sorts of trouble in my main job because they were nudes. It doesn't matter that they were tastefully done and of a pregnant woman. The fact was that she was naked! OOOh....but I digress. Fetish photography, when done well ( and there are SO many ways to do it because there are so many fetishes out there) is great. When it is done badly, well I can safely say that taking a photograph of a woman holding a whip wearing a cheap assed PVC outfit from Ann Summers does NOT a fetish photograph make! Mercedes Mar 01 06 08:50 am Link I enjoy shooting bondage and much of my work has been published in various fetish books, but I'm not in the scene myself. The part I enjoy - think me a dirty old man if you will - is that bondage requires that I handle and manhandle the models. The tying and then moving them around into different positions. The photographs themselves are very formal, using classical composition and B&W film and they tend to not be time-stamped. When I was doing only bondage work, I was very pleased by the way the photographs looked on my walls (they're still there), but at some point I found I'd have to either do more elaborate work or leave the genre, as I ran out of new ideas. I'm not interested in more elaborate bondage work as then the photographs become more records of something, and less art objects themselves. So I moved on. I still do bondage photography once in awhile in conjunction with my hotel rooms work. -Don Mar 01 06 10:59 am Link I enjoy bondage & fetish work. It's not the najor portion of my photos but a signifigant minority. I also enjoy seeing how the same theme varies by photographer... I am actually a new model looking to get into fetish/gothic modeling but it is so hard being that I am in Minnesota and there are not a lot of photographers (at least that I know of) here to do those kind of photoshoots.
