How many of you have thought about publically listening the models or photographers who have stood you up? Hahaha. I've thought about doing this. I highly doubt I would ever do it though.

Oh, and add 2 to my count. 2 more people didn't bother to show up for my film's auditions. I'm so glad I overcasted this film. What do these people be thinking??

OK, I will list all the models who have stood me up on a photo shoot ... 0, none, nada, no one .. etc..

BUT ... I have had models stand me up on the "first meeting" where we were to look at each others books and plan a shoot. Obviously, I never shot with them! So meeting before hand help!

Then I have always made back plans depending on the shoot ... just as I have back up cameras.  I have gotten calls the day before, or had models running late. I have been guilty of having to call and cancel or being late too.

So Joey and I have the right attitude ... "shit happens! Live with it!"  Maybe I just don't remember the problems I've had in getting things done when I can see all the wonderful results of being positive. It could be worse ... I could be dead! But as I said before, I just wasn't ready for thet!

Hours before I wnet to the ER with congestive heart failure, I was shooting the duaghters of the Dance Studio owner. Two big strong Moms were holding me up while I shot. Then from my hospital bed, I had the photos from a previous wedding I shot deliverd to me. In fact I continued to run my business from the hospital bed, even though I was told I was dieing without a heart transplant.

"F**k that! I don't have time to die right now!" Too much stuff for me to do before I go!

Oh, I already have the attitude you and Joey have about this. I'm not deeply angry or depressed about being stood up. I just find it fascinating that some people could be so confused and inconsiderate.

It IS a lack of respect on the part of a person who is not considerate enough to call. However it is THEIR loss, not yours or mine.  I live on! LOL

Also I fooled the Grim Reaper ... I've got probably another 45 to 50 years of living to do! big_smile

As long as I can still hold a camera up and have some strong women to hold me up .. as well as attractive people in front of my lens ... I will shoot pictures!!!!!
Many of you know exactly what I mean! tongue

I usually don't get stood up, but I did get stood up this weekend on one of my 2 shoots.  (The other one was great, and one of the photos of Kiera is now my avatar....)

I wish people would call.  I send my cell # and email address to every model I plan to work with...(and their managers if I book through them).

Well if they were "tied up" then they couldn't exacty call, now could they?  LOL  Sorry, Sorry! I could not resist after seeing your work! Interesting ... I remember seeing pictures like those fictional  but "true"detective story magazines, etc. and know there is a market for the content you shoot. I certainly hope you allow the model to bring an escort! wink  Pretty scary if you dont!

I've been stood up a bunch. At first, it irks me then I get thinking about how much time I'll save from editing their images.

Only twice today....that makes 6 times the model either no showed or called to cancel with less than a day's notice in the past week.  It's irriting when a model no shows or cancels too late to replace him/her, but I have more of a problem when someone calls to rent my studio then no shows.  I keep thinking I should insist on a non refundable
deposit before reserving the studio time, but it's not the way I want to do business.

well I like to meet with all my models before I Shoot with them unless they are outstanding models such as Hannah, Serena  and Maria where they have done such work and come with impeccable recommendations. One model stood me up on the meeting we were supposed to have! Needless to say we did not work together. I have never been stood up shoot day but have had late models and kicked some off my sets as well. I don't need the drama lol
Better luck to all from now on to all!

Low tek, it doesn't count when they call and cancel.

I beg to differ! Just because its low-tech doesn't mean that it doesn't mean anything. I go out & do the idea prep-work. I go out & do the location scouting. I go out & do perruse the clothing boutiques for wardrobe ideas. On the rare occasions, I lose a day of work at my other job to do a shoot.

So just because I (or anyone else) doesn't have an extravagent budget doesn't mean that a no-show "doesn't count." A no-show is still a no-show no matter what form it takes.

Them not showing up just has the idea get shifted to the backburner to be used at another time. & as I stated before, the bright side is them not showing up saves me time in the editing process.

**poster's edit**

Mod's please delete this response. Yours truely misread the following quote & feels like an idiot for posting it in the process. *looks at you w/ puppy dog eyes*

It seems that only OMP models fail to show.

Two models from MuseCube failed to showup for a photoshoot they had scheduled with me. That was one of the few times I got ticked off. I had traveled 1hr 40mins for both of those shoots.

What about photographers who cancel or "no show" on the models?  I'm sure it has happened before!

Again, I've gotta knock on wood! (knocks on head ...) because I've been so lucky when it comes to cancelations or no shows. It must be meeting with the models before a shoot that really helps? I swear! The only "models" that "no showed" on me were supposed to meet before the shoot. So they were "no models" to me!

Once I had a so called "model" who contacted me off MySpace. Then when I suggested that we meet to discuss a shoot, she said she could not leave her house because of anxiety attacks. So I suggested I come visit and we could use her house as a location.  Then she had to comme clean and admit she stole pictures of a "real" model and just wanted attention. There are MANY FAKES on MySpace! I wonder how many others are out there making FAKE profiles just because they are bored and want attention. I wonder how many of the "no shows" to a first meeting to share books and discuss shoot ideas were really FAKES? I feel sorry for them, but it's a waste of time to worry about 'em!

Uh.. it was twice today, and 4 times this past week...  That's a total of 6 unless my math is wrong, and only twice on the week-end.  In my type of operation, that's about average.

I've had tremendous success with OMP! Again, you have to meet with the models FIRST to weed out the FAKES!

I know photographers on OMP who create a fake profile of a model just so they can screw with her reputation! If you have not met with her first, then how do you know that it is really a "model" and not some crazy wanna be photographer? (OR a wanna be model who stole pictures of someone?) If you never spoke with the "model" on the phone? Or don't have a number to contact, that is highly suspecious! Then also what about the photographers who "stand up" models? It happens! Move on ...

I don't understand this? I've never been "stood up" for a photo shoot!  Why?

I've only had a few no-call no-shows. I have a model I'm supposed to work with tomorrow who told me to call last week to confirm wardrobe, etc. No reply and no reply to a subsequent email I sent as well. If she's not here tomorrow and I don't receive a reply, I'll drop her MM # in a later post as well as let every photographer I know how 'professional' she is. I'm sick of being polite.

Agree, most no-show, no-call have been OMP models. However, some of those OMP models have migrated over here to MM.

We had 4 models from Network International fail to show ot a fashion show. The following week the office manager guaranteed they would be there for a shoot if he had to drive them there himself and they again failed to show.

Needless to say, I don't use MI models anymore.

I consider you guys lucky just to be able to make appointments. The few models that actually
reply to me sound all excited at first, but then after a few emails, I get the silent treatment. If it wasn't for family and workshops, I wouldn't even have a portfolio.

I was stood up for a shoot for the first time last Saturday. The photographer has a full-time "day" job and runs his studio part-time. His FT job called him in. I understand that happening but he waited until hours after we were supposed to shoot to e-mail me and say what had happened.
