Here's a picture of a naked pregnant girl with her face half in shadow gazing at her belly while covering one breast with her hand, one breast with her hair, and her naughty bits with her other hand.

In SEPIA TONES!

HA! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

She does, doesn't she? And how could I stop you? smile

I was just doing my first sweep through the pics, saw this one, and thought of the various "no more cliche/hand-on-boob/etc" threads which have been active lately. smile So I ran the Sepia Tones action and slapped it up just for them.

LMAO. Thank you very much for making my day...and this photograph...well, maybe it is because it throws alot of cliches all at once, but it manages to look natural and uncontrived (relatively speaking...lol). I like it.

You could stop me, just asking because I just didn't want to hi-jack the thread.

I love the model...she's beautiful - those LIPS!!! OMG!

I like the lighting, you've done very good exposure control...one critique is that I personally would have removed the keylight to camera right and just used a whiteboard reflector so that the mainlight to camera left could create the same effect on her belly as it did on her face.

I don't like the composition...would have really been cool if she was mostly lit from one side as described above and then placed on the far right of the frame so that it was mostly blank canvas leading to a gradual increase in info with the contrasting decrease in light.

The composition is kind of boring, I admit. That one was just a plain-jane pic, mostly for her. I have others, I just haven't edited them yet. smile

You need to throw some random color in there, maybe "unsepia" her nails or something. That'll really drive 'em nuts. :-)

Oh, and throw a photoshop diffuse glow in too.

It's a beautiful photo and I'm sure your model/client will love it.  Who cares if it's a cliche?  If your client loves it, that's all that really matters.

Would it have been more cliche if you took her body and turned her to her side so you can have somewhat of a silouette of her tummy and b00bies(sorry couldn't help that one!) with her in the same pose or something? Actually I think it would be wiser not to say the same pose, because I don't think it would be attractive to the eye to have the "crotchal area" hah in the frame, maybe more to the tummy and breasticles. [I am one a roll tonight!]

I think that would be more cliche.

the nail polish and bracelets are fascinatingly incongruous with the "pregnancy portrait"...

Actually, she is, but the chromosome-donor hasn't got anything to do with it. (It's not like she doesn't put this stuff in her blog, not giving away secrets.) smile

Only because it was very cold and I hadn't *got* any wings.

Next time, I will use wings.

BUTTERFLY wings.

Top that.

You wanna argue with a pregnant woman about her choice of accessories, you go right ahead. I like my reproductive organs where they are, thank you very much.

Also, this is just one example of a fairly large project: Lauren's a Goth, this is her look.

Got some of those too. I thought the half-shadowed face was a stronger cliche. But you're right, that one is also an old favorite.

Just because a woman is Pregnant doesn't mean that she is taken people.  Remember we are living in the age of single motherhood...

You could always ad some purple color tint to her hair...

Just finishing up this set and ran across another fun one. This is why "Capture Priority" is a feature well worth having:

Okay, so it's not elegant. But I think it's charming. smile
