your first paid gig
what was it...how much did you get paid?!?... Oct 08 05 04:15 am Link I got $2500 for the photographs at the end of Little Nicky. Not bad for a first paid gig. I got to hang out with a really fun (and cute) animal handler all day. I didn't have to do any of the post production. The client paid on time. The photos sucked too! Oct 08 05 11:03 am Link In college I was the "newspaper's" chief photographer--$125/week. (By "newspaper" I mean "24 page tabloid that came out every 4-6 weeks and contained mostly photos of people playing frisbee on the quad and caricatures that my roommate drew of disliked professors.") Oct 08 05 01:49 pm Link i was a reflector chimp on a catalog shoot...it was for the fall season shot in the summer and the gals had to model these fur/fur like coats...i made $50 bucks and got to see this one particular model, who i will never forget, naked. Oct 08 05 01:53 pm Link First real paid gig? I was doing snowboard and tshirt art for a comapny in Japan.. Shit was great I was a twenty year old taking home like 800$ - 1200$ per week for like six months.. At the time I was working a job and I had an academic sholarship, plus a trust fund... Can you say "party like a rock star"??? Seriously - I think I partied for like a whole year!!!!! Oct 08 05 01:54 pm Link Got cold hired by a modeling school after covering a charity runway event that used their students. I'd shot the event as a photo school project. That was back in the late '70s and I made $240 per cluster-shoot of the students, give or take a few multiples of $24, once or twice a week for a few years thereafter. -Don Oct 08 05 02:25 pm Link A Theatre Poster- it paid $350 - It came out awesome- I was in my first semester of college so I use the out takes for my first project- Oct 08 05 05:57 pm Link $50 bucks for a model portfolio cosisting of 20 Rite Aid prints shot with a Pentax K1000. Oct 08 05 06:27 pm Link $150 for a half page climbing shot in Rock & Ice Magazine. Eric Foltz Oct 09 05 11:56 am Link hmmm - still yet to come... I guess... I hope Oct 09 05 11:57 am Link 400$/ + 100$ shoes for a four hour shoot of me in various costumes and nudes... Oct 09 05 12:46 pm Link Oddly enough, it was shooting a local rapper for his first CD (cover/inlay). I say it was odd because I am NOT a fan of rap in any way, shape, or form, but I was real happy with the photos. $250 - not much, but he's a buddy too so I didn't want to charge too much. It was a few years ago now. I made a photocopy of the check and glued it to my workbook, lol. "My first paid shoot!" Oct 09 05 01:12 pm Link First paid... erm bout 60/hour to shoot about 200 products for a shopwall panel reseller's website. Oct 09 05 01:17 pm Link Matrix hair show model in BFE Ohio. I was like 15 or so. I can't even remember what I got paid because my mom handled those details at that age. Oct 09 05 04:13 pm Link I dont remember the amount, but it was shooting some black and white photos of a man and his pregnant wife together. After that they bought an enlargement from me which still hangs in their bedroom today as far as I know. My fondest moment was selling my first art nude image at a gallery this past summer. Oct 12 05 08:40 am Link Figure and lingerie modeling for a future ex. He handed me money at the end of the shoot and I looked at him like he was insane. Most of my payment was not monetary. Oct 12 05 10:03 am Link It was about a year ago, for an art photographer who I had been admiring for quite some time. We shot in an awesomely dingy, scummy little motel with all kinds of mood, and he took a photo that to this day is one of my favorites, and everybody else seems to love as well. I got paid $100/hr. Not too shabby the first time out of the gate, especially for a fat girl who isn't shooting porn! Oct 12 05 10:11 am Link My first paid work was from a publishing company that saw another image I took, just a casual close up/head shot, B&W, of two friends that turned out really well considering the two had more Tequilla than I did at the time the shot was taken, and they asked if I had any images along the lines they were looking for to include in a book, 2 weeks later, they picked one of the two I sent, paid $500 immediately and 10 years of licensing royalties, sent me two of the books (which were really nice, still selling for $75 each, 11x16). Not bad for an out of the blue contact, and it started me off on this track... LOL Oct 12 05 10:21 am Link Shooting bondage equipment for a friend of mine who made it to use in a catalog and on his website. I got paid a *really* nice pair of fur-lined restraints and a couple hundred bucks, but that was also for printing the catalog and putting stuff on the website. M Oct 12 05 12:02 pm Link My first paying job was for an "Airplane Models" calendar. Hair/MUA and wardrobe provided, vintage clothing, and a tear sheet. I got $200 for about an hour and a half. Then I signed with an agency and started doing (paid) recurring work for HSN. Oct 13 05 11:32 am Link I got paid to be one of the shooters at an adult oriented cook book shoot. Naked model coverd in sushi in such a way to resemble a mermaid and all sorts of other cool themes. Thing is it never panned out.Project was dead in the water due to some bad planning on the companies part. But I had a blast and got some great contacts from it. Oct 13 05 01:42 pm Link $300.00 from BAM Magazine to shoot an LA Guns concert in the late 80's. Made the cover and still have the image in my hard book. I was able to capture the image of the screaming crowd in the singers mirrored sunglasses. Oct 13 05 01:53 pm Link Does promotional modeling count? If so, this past weekend, I got paid as a promo model for Undergear.com (a men's underwear website and catalogue.) I got paid $100 to be in Times Squarw dressed in boxer-briefs, boots, a t-shirt and a hat and pass out underwear and catalogues. It was fun, but it was freezing out there (it had just snowed about 2 inches that morning.) Dec 12 05 05:10 pm Link haven't had one yet -- but will be doing a flyer and getting a free health club membership. ang Dec 12 05 05:55 pm Link sorry double post ang Dec 12 05 05:55 pm Link $100/day to do 2nd assisting on a catalog shoot. Man that was fun. Now I have to actually work for my money. Dec 12 05 06:06 pm Link $100 for a friend's headshots but I don't think that counts. First "real" paid gig was a catalogue which I got paid $500, which is still low and still referred by a friend, to a friend of theirs... but still a company check with my name on it and an invoice. Yay me. I was ecstatic that day. I kissed it for good luck even. Dec 12 05 06:18 pm Link theda wrote: huh???...did he pay you in skittles?!? Dec 12 05 06:31 pm Link My first modeling gig was paid. 50 bucks an hour for non nude casual. I was a happy camper. Dec 12 05 08:35 pm Link Still waiting for mine...it was supposed to be a couple days ago and the girl was a no show, figures. She did however send me a lovely email the day after apologizing and wanting to re-schedule, don't think thats gonna happen. Dec 12 05 08:56 pm Link About 2 yrs ago, I found an add at my local college from an amateur photographer looking to shoot experienced models (he'd gone to school there as well, but had graduated). Called him, we shot together, and I got paid $40 for an hour and a half shoot. He recently sent me pics from the shoot (he lost my contact info during my move) via the internet. Dec 12 05 09:17 pm Link I got paid $200 bucks and this was one of my favorite shoots actually my avitar is from that shoot. This was one of my first photo shoots where i got paid more than 25 bucks for a kit fee or a tfp Dec 12 05 09:59 pm Link $200 for two hours of posing naked outdoors in DC in early winter. $50 I gave to my boyfriend, who came along to be my bodyguard, assistant, and clothes-holder. Dec 13 05 01:51 am Link $300 for a nude shoot. One of my all time fac pics came out of that shoot. I was kinda nervous about the shoot, but it turned out great. Dec 13 05 01:53 am Link Got maybe $75 or so for some journalism stuff I did when I was a student. Coolest part was when one of the shots ended up on the front page of the 100,000 circulation local paper. It's a real kick to see your shot in each newsstand in town. Dec 13 05 10:38 am Link You guys get paid ?? LOL .. My first paid gig was 250.00 to shoot some headshots and various promotional shots for a few up and coming (but nowhere to be found now) actresses. I was actually impressed by the shots (medium format black and white shots). I guess I wasn't good enough to get them work. Dec 13 05 07:04 pm Link 40 bucks for one hour of fashion one week after signing up for omp. got thrown out of the mall and went to a hotel lobby! Dec 13 05 07:11 pm Link I worked for a dayspa new in business and did all of their ads, menus, etc.. we needed a model one day.. so I got this secretary I knew from the Univ. I was working for, we each got $200 for the set, I spent my $200 on a lighting kit. Took 100 pics, used 4 in the ads. http://www.curiousculture.com/davidborn … /mill1.jpg there is one of the ads if you're curious Dec 13 05 07:56 pm Link $300 to do a cafe ad that got displayed at the movie theater. The challenge was that it was going to be displayed on the big screen, so I ended up stitching together almost 20 shots to get the right size. Also only had about 25 people to pose, so I moved em around during the shoot to create the illusion of a bigger crowd. Clones!! Dec 13 05 07:56 pm Link Got a check for $1500.00 for a cover and six page layout for a popular to some not to others mens magazine. That was in May of 1998. Dec 13 05 07:58 pm Link |
