*edit* If you are here to:

a) Bitch about how escorts are bad...go away
b) Bitch about how escorts are good...go away
c) Bitch at me for absolutely no reason about starting a thread you dislike even though YOU'RE the asshole who obviously just clicked on this thread because it contained the word ESCORT in the title and you're just here to bitch when I'm the one trying to spread a positive message...go away.

For those who won't read past the first paragraph because you're lazy and just want to make knee-jerk comments, the point of this thread is that escorts are not an assurance of safety. Period.

In my first few months of modeling, I had 3 experiences with creepy photographers. Nothing too awful...just people who were pervy...tried to give me naked massages...made uncomfortable comments...here's the thing though

The only times I ever had problems with photographers were when I did have an escort present. An escort will not solve all your problems.

Models, if you're bringing an escort, I'm sure you're way more likely to blow off all the other things you should be doing to ensure your safety...I know I did when I didn't know better.

Even if you're bringing an escort (which obviously I'm not an advocate of), talk to other models, check tags for things like "It was great working with you", and then made sure that someone knows where you're going, and how long you'll be gone just in case.

If you just do your research, there really isn't that much to be afraid of. There's way more fear on MM than there are reasons to actually be afraid.

Just the same, If I were a young model, I'd never go to a shoot alone. I have been a photographer for many years and the sickest craziest people I have ever met were some of my peers.

That's fine...I'm not saying people can't bring escorts. I'm merely saying an escort is not an assurance of safety nor is a lack of one an assurance of danger. You need to do your homework regardless. I bet the percentage of girls who always check references and have been in a situation where they needed an escort is way lower than you think.

Lol...really...I've only been a model for a year...but it's been my experience that some of the sanest, kindest, most down to earth people I've met have been photographers.

Come to court with me sometime.  I'll show you what an actual knuckledragging-sicko-rapist really looks like.  I know a couple photographers that might be off center a little, but nothing compared to what you see on the jail docket.

Bring and escort,
Don't bring and escort,
Makes no difference to me.

But yes.... Please do your research in checking up on people before you shoot with them,
and I mean both models and photographers should check.
Models need to avoid creepy or unreliable photographers
and photographers need to avoid crazy or flaky models.

Exactly.

Have I been in bad situations? Yes.
Have I ever needed an escort? No. I was able to handle it on my own.

The only time I bring an escort is when I'm going to be going to a bondage shoot.  I bring an escort to a bondage shoot when A)either the photographer has no references or I can't get the references in time (IE at a convention like Fetishcon where shoots are made on the floor) or B)It's a big shoot or a guerilla shoot and I want an extra set of hands and or someone who's familiar with my brand of gag speak.  I don't ever want to be falling over while tied up and have the photographer have to snap decide whether to let his camera drop or the model drop.

It's always heartening to see how much photographers support others in their profession, and how the ones who say "bring escorts" are quick to insist that they're the only safe ones.

Hey...at least I'm not saying I'm right and everyone else on MM should agree with me smile I'm just pointing out that escorts aren't an assurance of safety, and research should be done regardless of what you choose to do.

I understand that, Kaitlin...

I meant no disrespect.

I just don't see the logic of starting another escort thread when we have too many as it is.

Couldn't you have posted this on an existing thread, instead of starting another?

so basically, what you're saying is that most photographers have a propensity to don banana man costumes while parading in the public dirty dancing and waving around  these POOP posters? smile

The existing ones are so clogged up with arguments and drama that no one would ever read what I have to say if I did. That escorts are not an assurance of safety is something that I think is important for models to understand, and I'm sorry if it bothers people to see another escort thread, but if it helps even one model stop behaving in dangerous behavior (ie not checking references) then I don't care how many angry emails I get.

Rather than testimonials/instances why not offer a statistical perspective on the dangers?  Should the name Harold Shipman be used to frighten the sick?
