I get emails from photographers and as soon as i tell them im only 16 they loose interest..why is this? personally..i dont think age should matter..but rather how you can help the photographer and yourself for your portfolio..or whatever.

Because until you're 18, you can't sign a model release, and many photographers don't want to deal with guardians signing for you.

Because, and let's be honest, 90% of the "photographers" here on MM want to shoot nudes.

That pretty-much covers it.

Oh, one more reason - because, as you state, you have no experience yet will only do paying shoots. Exactly who do you think is going to pay a 16 year-old with no experience?

I agree. I am only looking to create visually stimulating images, not really further my career.

But its so hard... Nobody takes me seriously because im a minor.

Alternatively, could it be because you call yourself "Yummy Buddy?" If you want to be taken seriously, act serious.

I would gladly shoot TFCD with you. But would not pay an inexperienced young lady unless I had a market for the photos taken.
The parents or escort thing doesn't phase me in the least.

Honestly I never get a hard time about being a minor.I didn't even when I first started modeling and I had crappy selftaken/friends taken pictures.Maybe you are aproaching the wrong photographers?

Yeah...don't have problems either, they either tell me to bring a guardian/parent or make my parent sign a release form and I have to bring a escort.

I don't think that 90% would be a fair number but the whole art/nudity vs. fashion argument is stupid to me anyway.

Yes, I have nudes in my port but I also have shots of a 16 year old model as well (among my best shots IMHO). I was a little leery of shooting with her, NOT because of her but because of the parent. Parents can be the worst people to deal with on a shoot involving a minor. I got lucky and did not have any problems dealing with the girl's mother. I got her to sign the release as the legal guardian to make things perfectly clear.

I have to agree that with no experience and also due to your age you have pretty much killed any chance of getting photographers to work with you if you feel you deserve compensation. You have nothing to show justification for your demand. Remove that stipulation and you should find a fair amount of people willing to work with you.

Does your mommy want to sign a paper so somebody can take provocative pictures of her little girl?

Yeah...people who started off in MM here that's around my age is either well experienced, or have a page that looks exactly like myspace. But that's how they start...they have some nonprofessional pictures, and then they'll develop it.

Lauraxbella, perhaps you could sign with a local modeling agency? I'm sure there are some in the area. The could give you some training that you will need if you are serious about this; access to photographers who are hopefully pre-screened (a few years ago when I lived back east, I had the job to develop portfolios for an agency) and you might even land one of those paying jobs. But remember, when you are starting out, no matter which side of the lens you are on, you will have to do a lot of "free" work. If you are working with someone good, you might even have to pay for the experience!

Good luck- if you can survive the startup, it's a great business to be in!

Laura, you're under the typical model height and weight. It is unlikely that you can get any mainstream work. Thus, your options are very limited. Check out newmodels.com for more information. I shoot models under 18. Loira was only 16 when I first shot her. but she is 5'9" and within the normal weight range. She is likely to be in mainstream work one day. . .
You can probably get someone to take pictures for you. Those who's work you will like is likely to cost you around $200 for a set. You can't expect any compensation for quite sometime from now.
Best of luck.

If you were paid, why are you expecting pictures back?

If you want good pictures, it is you who should be paying at this point. Trade, at best.

Do you want to be a model, or a hobbyist? If the former, go to an open call at an agency, with your parents, and prepare to have your eyes opened (note to everyone else: yes, I know). If the latter, then hey, knock yourself out and have fun, but seriously, take it down a notch.

Try getting rid of your "I'll only do paid shoots" line on your page... build a portfolio with somebody who's willing to do TFP/TFCD! You'll get a shoot set up by next weekend, EASILY!

Because the photographer doesn't want some underage model's bitchy parents to file a lawsuit if the models pictures look a little too racy.

Take down the crap about "I only do paid shoots". You got lucky the first time, but you're REALLY limiting yourself by being so close-minded.

Even people who are 26 years of age, still do not get contacted. Don't take it personal. I have been here for over a year, and still have not been contacted for a shoot.

Try sending in some pictures to some agencies, you will probably have much better luck that way. I am going to start doing that myself.

I'm not sure if maybe you've gotten the point or not yet but I went to read your port and it said "depends on assignment" now, I assume it used to say paid work only? haha yea, not going to happen. If this is correct then it is a great thing you changed that. One thing going good for you is you can take the criticism on here. That's a huge plus. But as far as your age goes, and you've already heard this, but you can't sign a release. And a lot of the photogs on here don't allow escorts because for the most part they get in the way and cause drama at the shoot. No photog welcomes that/ and as far as getting paid goes?... if anyone , you should be paying for better work to post in your port. TFP/TFCD at best. Good luck with your modeling

I mentioned this before in a topic but I never got the answer, in UK 16 is a legal age[I think?], so can they sign a release form then?

Im only interested in paying shoots. Seeing as I'm only 16, I won't do nudity or anything sluty/risky of any kind. I haven't had any professional experiance, but plenty of shoots of my own. All the pictures you see on my page we're taken by me. Escort will always be with me..if you're interested- contact me.

She is 16 and seems to have answered her own question with her own profile info.
She is not a model nor model material , she is a cross over from my space, what else do you expect?

You have recommendations from photographers, adult models, and models who are minors.  They have not said what they did to be rude, condescending, or insensitive (I don't think so anyways).  They said these things to inform you of how "The biz" goes.  If I need someone to shoot I will not hire someone with no experience.  I will hire those who have experience.

Now how do you gain experience?  TFP's.  Look around the site for photographers in your area.  Find some and check out their work and recommendations from models who have worked with them.  Then email them and ask about TFP/cd's.  Worst they can do is say "no".  If I am looking to gain experience in a certain area of photography... let's say nude or glamour, chances are I will pay a model who has experience.  Why would models be any different?  If you want to gain some experience in modeling you might actually have to PAY a photographer.  Modeling isn't cheap... is it ladies??

I looked at the OP's port and I want to encourage her to either pay someone or do TFCD with a photographer who can create some excellent pictures. I love to do TFCD with new models and I love to pay models who have the skill and experience to bring something special to the shoot. I don't know of anyone who would pay an inexperienced model without a portfolio, regardless of their age.
